Melanie Martinez, Brian Scartocci, Avery Wilson & More ‘Voice’ Contestants Talk About Their Blind Audition Experiences

September 18, 2012 11:58 AM by Shayla Perry

Last night, we watched as they wowed celebrity coaches Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Cee Lo Green, and Christina Aguilera, officially making it onto the hit NBC reality show. Now that they’ve had the chance to relive the experience, what do the Voice contestants have to say about their Blind Auditions? Find out all the details from their recent interview, after the jump.

Usher Raymond isn’t joining the all-star cast of The Voice until the 4th season of the NBC show, but he’s already making a big impression on at least one of the contestants…Team Cee Lo’s Avery Wilson.

After Wilson blew everyone away with his song, “Without You,” the award-winning R&B artist tweeted the 16-year-old, which Avery admits was “one of the best things to happen to me. That was like a dream to me. I had to pinch myself.”

Though all four of the coaches turned their chairs for him, Avery says that he chose Cee Lo because “he said he felt like he could learn from me.”

Wilson was impressed by the fact that Green – with all of his fame and accomplishments as an artist – wasn’t ashamed to say that he can still learn, proving to Avery that he was someone he could trust.

Avery also feels like Green can help him bring out “the more creative side” of himself, unlike his competitor, Brian Scartocci, who ultimately decided to take himself “out of my comfort zone” by going with Adam Levine, over Cee Lo, who was his original choice.

As to the fan response he’s gotten, Brian reveals, “I’ve been doing this awhile, so to actually have people to respond to me, it’s blowing my mind a little.”

The concept of having so many fans isn’t anything new for YouTube sensation JR Aquino. What was “super different,” however, was performing on an actual stage…in front of people.

For Canadian duo Beat Frequency, being on The Voice has been a blessing; especially after trying out for The X Factor, America’s Got Talent, and being “way past the age” for American Idol.

The couple “had no idea The Voice took duos,” but now that they’ve finally found their place on the show, they’re ” totally happy” that Christina Aguilera turned her chair for them. “It’s a dream to be on her team; it really is.”

Someone who Christina wasn’t too keen on last night was tambourine player, Melanie Martinez. Though it’s a “popular controversy on Twitter” that X-tina didn’t turn her chair for her because she sang a Britney Spears song, Martinez doesn’t think that was the reason.

“I was not surprised that she didn’t turn around,” says Melanie. “I wasn’t a power singer and that’s usually what she sticks to.”

Now that they’re all on teams and ready to move forward in the competition, each of the contestants are happy to give their thanks and shout outs to the fans and haters alike. After all, they wouldn’t have gotten to where they are today if it weren’t or ALL of them.
