So You Think You Can Dance Season Finale Recap: Winners Revealed!

September 18, 2012 07:15 PM by Candace Young

Last week we saw the Top Four finalists, Chehon, Cyrus, Eliana, and Tiffany, dance their hearts out in their sexy final performances. All of them were amazing, but tonight the top guy and top girl will be chosen as winners of this season of So You Think You Can Dance. Keep reading to find out who America chose…

Lil C, Adam Shankman, Debbie Allen, Tyce Diorio, Mary Murphy, and Nigel Lythgoe make up the So You Think You Can Dance judging panel for tonight’s finale. The Top Twenty are back together for a dramatic, windblown number choreographed by Christopher and Sonya to Torn. Nigel calls it the best routine they’ve ever had to open a show!

Tonight, the judges have been asked to choose a routine that represents the best of season 9 for them. Nigel has asked back the routine by Matthew and Audrey that was inspired by Titanic.  This is the one performed to Unchained Melody and using the chaise lounge as a prop. It’s a soaring, romantic contemporary number. Heart-pounding!

Lil C calls back the east coast hip-hop number featuring Witney and Twitch. This is the number Witney blew the judges away with her ability to get down. In this dance, the hairography works in her favor!

Debbie Allen chooses a lyrical contemporary routine by Tiffany and George that was choreographed by Sonya. It’s beautiful, elegant, and poignant.

Adam selects the Pasa Doble between Cole and Lindsay as his favorite routine. This is the one Nigel called one of the best Pasa Dobles ever on the show. They are reminiscent of super heroes what with Lindsay in the cape skirt and Cole in the high-waisted black pants.  The music is appropriately dramatic. Awesome.

Citing his love of characters, Tyce recalls the number by Will and Amelia with the dumpster. It’s danced to Love Cats and is slinky quirky fun. Love it!

Mary Murphy picks the number that was most emotional for her this season – the dance that was about the holocaust; getting a knock on the door and only being able to take one suitcase. Chehon and all-star Catherine perform the breathtaking routine again.

Eliana and all-star Alex perform their red-bathed contemporary dance to My Baby Shot Me Down (Bang Bang). It’s raw and as incredible as the first time.

Tiffany and all-star Brandon perform their disco-themed routine with 11 lifts. Glittery, energetic goodness!

Chehon and all-star Anya team up for a Latin dance to Breathing Below Surface. Chehon is masterful in his movements and looks fab in red and black!

Cyrus performs in a group routine with Twitch and featuring choreographer Christopher Scott to Holy Ghost. They’re dressed like poker players and ante up big time – the amazing routine brings the judges to their feet!

Tiffany performs with one of the all-star Ade to Power Of Love in that delicious contemporary routine full of lifts that they did a couple of episodes back.

Dragon House (remember Cyrus’ roommates?) perform a cray number in which they’re dressed in business suits, but one short guy is out in front all in gold. We’ll call him Oscar. Anyway, the animation and pop ‘n’ lock are spectacular. No surprise there.

Carly Rae Jepson performs This Kiss live wearing hot pink moon booties.

The final duet of the night is Cyrus and Twitch. They’re robotic men who break out from behind glass and have an animated interaction. So. Cool.

The Top Ten and ten all-stars perform a routine to Circle of Life. They look like dancers from Cats, and the choreography is sensational! Rawr!

Cat begins with the girls. America’s favorite dancer is…Eliana!

It’s the guys’ turn. America’s favorite dancer is…Chehon! Ya!
