Paris Hilton Says She’s Sorry About Gay Remarks

September 21, 2012 12:00 PM by Stephanie Gustafson

We’d completely forgotten about Paris Hilton’s love of speaking without thinking. Thankfully, the star of The World According To Paris reminded us of her famous foot-in-mouth syndrome the other day when she accused gays of being disgusting. What excuse did Paris have this time?

Paris Hilton has a knack for marking stupid and often insensitive remarks. She recently displayed that talent again during a cab ride with an openly gay male model. The model was showing Paris a dating app on his phone, when she responded, “Ewww! Gay guys are the horniest people in the world. They’re disgusting. Dude, most of them probably have AIDS. … I would be so scared if I were a gay guy. You’ll like, die of AIDS.”

Initially, Paris used the typical “taken out of context” excuse to explain her remark. Now, though, she’s backtracking with an official apology to the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation:” I am so sorry and so upset that I caused pain to my gay friends, fans and their families. Gay people are the strongest and most inspiring people I know…I feel absolutely horrible. I hope that everyone can accept my apology and know that it is not who I am or how I feel in any way.”

Paris added that the AIDS epidemic is not limited to the gay community. “HIV/AIDS can hurt anyone, gay and straight, men and women. It’s something I take very seriously and should not have been thrown around in conversation.”

Are you buying Paris Hilton’s apology? Or is this, like most everything involving Paris, another ploy for publicity? Feel free to share your thoughts with us in the comments section below!
