Paris Hilton – remember her? – is attempting to insert herself back into the spotlight, and given the public’s disregard for her, it called for drastic measures (spoiler alert: She said something bigoted).
So who did the former “The World According To Paris” decide to defame in order to increase her own fame? If you guessed homosexuals, you are correct.
A little context is in order: Paris Hilton made the following comment in the back of a New York City taxi cab on Sept. 7 (it takes a while for her comments to make their meandering way to the media these days).
Here it is: “Gay guys are the horniest people in the world … they’re disgusting,” she reportedly told a friend in the cab. “Dude, most of them probably have AIDS.”
The slurs arose as a gay friend of Paris Hilton’s was explaining a cell phone application called Grindr, which allows gay men to meet other gay men.
Paris’ people are saying that her quotation was taken out of context. Because in the proper context, statements like that are so much less offensive, right? By the way, the conversation was reportedly secretly recorded by the cab driver.
“Paris Hilton’s comments were to express that it is dangerous for anyone to have unprotected sex that could lead to a life threatening disease,” her representative told RadarOnline.com.
That sounds surprisingly nothing like “Gay guys are the horniest people in the world … they’re disgusting.”
The representative went on to say, “Paris Hilton is a huge supporter of the gay community and would never purposefully make any negative statements about anyone’s sexual orientation.”
Except for the things she said.
