The Real Housewives of Miami are back on Bravo, and we have been introduced to several new and exciting women in season 2. One of the new Housewives is Ana Quincoces, a smart, sexy, and sassy lawyer and chef. Ana is one of the most successful women who has ever come on the show; before joining the cast, she published two cookbooks and was named the “hottest chef” of 2011 by Eater magazine. With being so established and having so many accomplishments already, why join the Housewives?
“It came at a good point in my life. My children are adults, and it was time for me to get outside my comfort zone,” Ana says. “I am reinventing myself: in the past few years I went from being a married woman, to single, from a full-time lawyer, to a chef. My friends Marysol [Patton] and Alexia [Echaverria] were also on the show, so I knew what to expect.” Ana admits she has seen how helpful the Housewives platform has been for ladies trying to market themselves, and Ana intends to publish more cookbooks and has a cooking marinade coming out as well.
Of course, Ana can’t control or support everything that happens to her while being on the show. We’ve seen enough eye-rolls from Ana to realize she wants no part of Karent’s storyline involving her boyfriend Rodolfo. “Karent knows I didn’t text him. She knows he’s a player. I don’t know why she’s acting like this,” Ana says. When I asked what her relationship was like with Karent at this point, she said it was “cordial. I mean, I don’t like her; but it’s cordial.” Ana can certainly be blunt. When Ana recently appeared on Andy Cohen’s Watch What Happens Live, Ana was asked about her opinion of cast mate Lea Black, to which Ana replied she didn’t “care to know her.” When I asked her to clarify, she simply said she didn’t feel like pretending to be BFFs with someone and needed to feel a special spark with someone to develop a close relationship with a new person in her life.
Maybe that’s why it’s been difficult for Ana to remove Robert from her life, her husband of 23 years. She obviously had, and continue to has, a special relationship with him, a spark with him she appreciates. She’s quick to defend Robert’s sarcastic remarks on the show (such as his dig about having a girlfriend who is 15 years younger than her) by saying Robert’s humor is just his way of dealing with difficult situations. She says it’s “weird” dating someone new after 23 years, but she accepts it.
Ana is a welcome addition to the Housewives: she’s like a piping-hot appetizer added to the delicious main course of Miami. Ana is happy with the response she has received so far from fans of The Real Housewives of Miami. She understands the audience can be fickle, but she plans on continuing to be true to herself and hopes viewers can continue to relate to her and her honest story.
