Project Runway Recap: Letting Your Avant-Garde Down

October 04, 2012 08:38 PM by Shayla Perry

It’s down to the Top 5 designers on Lifetime‘s Project Runway, and with only one challenge left before New York’s Fashion Week, it’s time to bring it! So who made it into the final four and who was sent packing in tonight’s avant-garde challenge?

Tonight on Project Runway….

Having only won one challenge, Melissa Fleis is fully aware of the fact that she needs to up her game if she’s going to make it to Fashion Week, and she has one more chance to prove herself.

For their final challenge, Tim Gunn lets the designers know that they’ll be creating avant-garde looks using a new line of L’Oreal makeup as their inspiration.

This time, they’ll have $400 in their budgets and 2 days to complete their designs.

After sketching and shopping, the designers head to Parsons to start working, which is when Sonjia Williams realizes that she left one of her most important pieces of fabric at Mood! Make that 5 yards of fabric!

If ever there was a time to make it work!

By the second day, Fabio Costa and the other designers are feeling the pressure; pressure that Christopher Palu seems to be struggling under. Is his look even avant-garde?!

Dmitry Sholokhov is having the same issue, as Melissa races to finish her design at the last second.

Tim Gunn may not have approved of Christopher and Dmitry’s looks but what did the judges think?

Surprisingly, it’s Melissa’s design that captivates the judges the most.

Despite his worries, Fabio is still in and will be going to Fashion Week, but this challenge marks the end of the road for Sonjia.

Tell us RTVM: What did you think of tonight’s elimination? Did the right designer get sent home? Which of the final four are you rooting for?

I’m not sure what you mean when you say that Melissa most captivated the judges. It was Dmitry who won the challenge, not Melissa. I liked both of their looks personally.
