Oh, yeah! It’s that time again. The Battles have begun on NBC‘s The Voice, with the contestants on each team going head to head, duking it out (well, lyrically, anyway) for a spot in the Live shows. BUT this time there’s a twist!
Let’s get ready to rumble!
It’s the night we’ve been waiting for — Night 1 of the Battle Rounds on The Voice. Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Cee Lo Green, and Christina Aguilera have paired up their team members, and with the help of mentors Michael Buble, Mary J. Blige, Rob Thomas, and Billie Joe Armstrong, they’re getting them ready to face one another in the ring for a spot in the Live shows.
This time, however, each coach will have the chance to use 2 steals, snagging a contestant that otherwise would be going home.
How did it all play out?
Here’s the rundown, round by round.
Casey Muessigmann vs. Terry McDermott
“Carry On Wayward Son”
Both gave stellar performances, but Terry definitely had a better command of the stage, which was one of the reasons Blake chose him as the winner.
Bryan Keith vs. Collin McLoughlin
Collin comes through with a pitch perfect performance; though Christina felt that he rushed it a bit. Adam’s choice? Bryan Keith!
The good news is, both Blake and Cee Lo want to steal Collin. Now it’s the coaches turn to perform a little song and dance. And it’s not looking good for Cee Lo, who said that he would’ve picked Bryan as the battle winner.
So, it’s Team Blake for Collin.
Team Cee Lo
Diego Val vs. JR Aquino
It’s a true battle! Cee Lo has a hard time deciding, but the decision goes to Diego. …And no save for JR.
De’Borah vs. Nelly’s Echo
“Message in a Bottle”
The only words to describe it: O-M-G! As a pair, they were great, but it’s clear that De’Borah is the winner of this one. And surprisingly, no steal for Nelly.
2 Steel Girls vs. Gracia Harrison
Gracia held her own against the mother-daughter duo in this “throwdown country battle,” and her confidence is what wins it.
Team Cee Lo
Amanda Brown vs. Trevin Hunte
“Vision of Love”
It’s undoubtedly the best performance of the night, bringing all four coaches to their feet (and Christina, Blake, and Adam gearing up for a steal). Hoping to be a part of Trevin’s “journey,” Cee Lo goes with the18-year-old, and seconds later, everyone goes for the steal for Amanda. Her choice? Adam.
What did you think of tonight’s Battles? Did the coaches get it right? Should 2 Steal Girls and Nelly’s Echo have been saved? Sound off in the Comments section below. We want to hear from you!
