The Voice Recap: Another Night of Knockouts

October 09, 2012 07:33 PM by Shayla Perry

It’s night 2 of The Battle Rounds on NBC‘s The Voice, with more knockout performances from the members of Teams Adam, Blake, Cee Lo and Christina. Who made it through to the next phase of the competition? Who managed to get a “steal” from the coaches? Get all the highlights from tonight’s show after the jump.

After night 1 of The Battle Rounds, we know that the contestants on Teams Adam, Blake, Cee Lo, and Christina have definitely brought their A games in Season 3. Seriously… That performance from Amanda Brown! Who knew?!

How did the artists on night 2 compare?

Up first, Rudy Parris and Charlie Rey battle it out to keep their spot on Team Blake, with Rudy prevailing and scoring one for single dads everywhere.

Christina Aguilera has paired Celica Westbrook with Lisa Scinta, and decides to take Celica into the Live shows with her.

Team Cee Lo’s spunky sparkplug Domo goes up against Cody Belew doing Lady Gaga’s  “Telephone.”

She may have won him over by singing one of the songs he wrote during the Blind Auditions, but this time, her charm just isn’t enough. Cody Belew is on Team Cee Lo.

Next, Team Christina’s Aquile is paired with sweet 15-year-old, Nathalie Hernandez singing, “You Give Me Something.”

Aquile’s “commanding” voice blends really well with Nathalie’s, but as Adam Levine puts it, Aquile is just “ready”…now. And that’s why Christina Aquilera picks him to join Team XTina.

Hands down, the best battle of the evening was between Team Adam’s quirky photographer Melanie Martinez and theatre student Caitlin Michele.

Levin gives them the perfect song to showcase both of their talents — Ellie Goulding’s “Lights.”

After a hauntingly emotional performance of the pop hit, Adam is torn, and Blake and the other coaches aren’t giving him any help in making the hard decision. Although, Cee Lo does say that he “loves” Melanie. We’re not sure which female contestant the Gnarls Barkley singer doesn’t love, but still — at least we know that between the two, he’d probably choose her.

The choice, however, is Adam’s.

He wants them both, but that’s not how the show works (hmm…could that be a twist in the future?).

His decision? To go with his gut and keep Melanie.

With such a great performance, it’s no surprise that Blake and Cee Lo both want Caitlin for themselves. Maybe Cee Lo shouldn’t have said he wanted Melanie. AND — Blake originally turned his chair for her in the Blind Auditions.

Unfortunately for Blake, ladies can’t resist the “Lo.”

What did you think of Night 2 of the Battles? Did the coaches make the right decisions? Do you think Nathalie Hernandez should’ve been saved? Sound off in the Comments section below.
