In case you haven’t heard, Stacey Dash plans to vote for Mitt Romney in November. You wouldn’t think this would be such shocking news; Republican celebrities do exist, people! But following a tweet in which she expressed her support for Romney, the former Celebrity Circus contestant found herself in the midst of a nasty Twitter brawl. She later told former America’s Got Talent judge Piers Morgan all about the ordeal. How’s she handling the haters?
We hadn’t heard too much from Clueless star Stacey Dash, but thanks to a single political tweet, the actress is once again the center of attention. Problem is, the attention is all negative…and Stacey doesn’t like it. That being said, she’s willing to defend her right to speak her mind. And that’s exactly what Stacey did the other day on Piers Morgan Tonight, explaining, “People are going to have their own opinion….I used my platform [Twitter] to exercise my First Amendment right as an American citizen to say who I am choosing to vote for.”
Turns out, Stacey isn’t the hardcore conservative haters have been making her out to be. She admitted to voting for Barack Obama in 2008. The actress deems herself a moderate and is willing to switch sides from time to time. When asked why she was choosing Mitt Romney this time around, Stacey explained, “I would say because of the state of the country, and I want the next four years to be different…I believe [Romney]…I watched him, the Governor and his wife, on Meet the Press. They spoke to me, they seemed authentic and genuine.”
No matter how many Twitter haters she attracts, Stacey Dash insists that she’s “not angry.” Instead, she feels “saddened and really shocked” at the “fury” unleashed by angry Twitter users.
