Lady Gaga And M.I.A. Feud Draws To A Close

October 12, 2012 09:31 AM by Stephanie Gustafson

Before there was Mariah Carey vs Nicki Minaj, the big celebrity diva feud starred none other than former So You Think You Can Dance judge Lady Gaga and Paper Planes star M.I.A. But thanks to a little magic from Julian Assange, the two are now best buds. Does this mean there’s still hope for Mariah and Nicki?

Pop stars Lady Gaga and M.I.A. haven’t exactly been the best of friends. Back in 2010, M.I.A. accused Gaga of “[modeling]  herself on Grace Jones and Madonna, but the music sounds like disco. She’s not progressive, but she’s a good mimic. She sounds more like me than I f***ing do!”

M.I.A. apparently has gotten over her hatred of all things Gaga, because she recently tweeted the “good mimic” the following invite: “If ur at Harrods today, come visit Assange at the Ecuador embassy across the st. I’m there. I’ll bring TEA and CAKE.” Lady Gaga later responded with a picture in which she was chumming it up with Julian Assange. This certainly made M.I.A. happy, based on her caps-filled followup: “MY MIND IS SERIOUSLY BLOWN! THNK U FOR THE VISIT! IM GLAD THAT WE CAN TURN ALL THIS BAD PRESS BEEF AROUND AND MAKE IT POSITIVE ??”

An interesting comment, seeing as M.I.A. was responsible for all the “bad press beef” in the first place. Lady Gaga never trashed M.I.A. — it was the other way around.  Still, Gaga was happy to share a few kind words of her own with M.I.A: “Perhaps you and i can make peace through our shared compassion for others. Cheers.” Aww, how sweet.

Who would have expected the exiled Julian Assange to patch things up between M.I.A. and Lady Gaga? Clearly, despite any  U.S. Intelligence suspicions, this guy must be a peacemaker!
