Last week, a video surfaced of Nicki Minaj yelling and cursing at Mariah Carey. Everyone has weighed in on the American Idol feud, it seems, including Stevie Nicks. While appearing on “The Daily” to promote her new documentary, “In Your Dreams”, Stevie was asked about her feelings regarding the video. The comments she made started some bad blood, which Stevie has apologized for. What did she say? Keep reading!
Stevie, when prompted to weigh in on the feud, is quoted as saying “How dare this little girl! … If I had been Mariah I would have walked over to Nicki and strangled her to death right there,” said the songbird. Stevie, who was a guest mentor during American Idol’s 11th season went on to say, “I would have killed her in front of all those people and had to go to jail for it.” Stevie went on to say that she would not like to be a judge—but, even if she had to drag Lindsey Buckingham “kicking and screaming” with her. She would, however, “absolutely” try out for Idol, The X Factor or The Voice if they were just getting started because “that’s how you get seen these days.”
After creating a backlash with her comments, she has since retracted her statement and issued an apology. “I want to apologize for my remarks about Nicki Minaj’s behavior toward Mariah Carey, which I said during a long and exhausting day of interviews,” Nicks told the New York Daily News. “It was very out of character for me and I deeply regret what I said. I feel very protective toward Mariah Carey who has gone through many difficulties in her life and I spoke without thinking. I think all artists should be respectful toward one another and that includes me.”
We think that Stevie’s apology is sincere, and that she realizes her blowout was completely inappropriate. Do you agree? Let us know below in the comments!
