We’ve all heard the adage that once you get your significant others’ name tattooed on you, you’re headed for a split. Well we’re not sure if this actually counts, but it seems that Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth have been inked in a very original way. The Punk’d princess sports a tattoo on her arm that she revealed this summer. Cyrus’s tattoo reads, “So that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who neither know victory nor defeat.” Liam’s tattoo goes continues the idea, and reads “If he fails, at least fails while daring greatly.”
It’s hard to read when it’s in swollen black ink on a freshly tattooed arm, but the passage is from a speech made by Theodore Roosevelt entitled “Citizenship In A Republic”. The passage is originally written as such, “The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood, who strives valiantly, who errs and comes up short again and again, because there is no effort without error or shortcoming, but who knows the great enthusiasms, the great devotions, who spends himself for a worthy cause; who, at the best, knows, in the end, the triumph of high achievement, and who, at the worst, if he fails, at least he fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who knew neither victory nor defeat.”
This new tattoo reveal is on the heels of Miley turning down her role in Bonnie & Clyde, a lifetime movie in which she was slated to appear, and also following the conviction of one Jason Luis Ruiz, who attempted to break into her home earlier this fall.
While we’re not sure what the passage means to them, it is interesting and original, to say the least. Miley has stated that she has 15 tattoos-I wonder if this one is the last?
