It’s been an entire two weeks since we saw the contestants on America’s Next Top Model display their random acts of modeling…how difficult it has been to survive without our weekly dose of photos and drama! This week, the models are back, but they’re also in big, big trouble!
As if the whole obligatory “does she or doesn’t she have an eating disorder” plot hasn’t already been worn thin, Victoria is once again claiming she’s eating while the other models watch her picking at her food. At the same time, I kinda feel for Victoria. Everyone’s jumping down her throat. It’s hard to tell if they’re actually “concerned” about her health as they claim, or just ready for any excuse to get her out of the competition.
This week, the models are visiting designers (specifically, Guess, I <3 Ronson, Whitney Port, Lulu Guinness and Cecilia Cassini) and attempting to book as many as possible. Who ever lands the most designers wins the challenge. The catch? They only have 5 hours to visit ‘em all…and remember, this is Los Angeles! Good luck with that traffic!
Oh yeah, and the models have to work in pairs. It’s pretty clear that each model was paired with her biggest frenemy: Victoria and Kiara, Kristin and Laura and last but not least, Brittany and Nastasia.
I didn’t think Victoria could have an ounce of love for anyone other than her mom, but I guess I was wrong. She also has a serious girl crush on Whitney Port! In her quest to make a good impression, Victoria ends up interrupting her go-see partner Kiara every time she gets the chance. Kiara is pissed and she’s not afraid to show it.
Cecelia Cessini is a designer at the young age 13, but she’s a pro — she’s been doing this since she was 6! A few of the contestants scoff at the idea of a 13-year-old designer, but if anything, Cecelia comes across as more mature than many of the models she’s thinking of booking.
The models head back to the Big Box for feedback and to learn their fates. The booking results?
This leaves Victoria and Brittany with no bookings. The two are, predictably, bummed out.
Now, the models get to experience a different type of booking: prison! Kiara’s struggling with the setting for the shoot — she was arrested for shoplifting at 18 and booked at a jail. She’s told to let her stress out by jumping around or shouting or something other than looking like a zombie. The result? A huge tirade filled with cussing and hand gestures. Her pictures will either be really amazing or really awful.
Victoria’s character of the day: a Southerner who stole lipstick but isn’t willing to cop to it. The models and photographers all feel that playing a character at a shoot is insane, but I still think it’s a cool idea. Yes, Victoria’s over the top, but seeing as she’s had a lot of good shoots, it obviously works for her.
And now, for the feedback from the judges. They are once again huge Laura fans this week. She’s obviously redeemed herself after last week’s fall from grace. Brittany, on the other hand, isn’t convincing anyone. With no bookings and 4 and 5 scores from the judges, she’s definitely at risk for being cut. Tyra thinks that the only thing carrying her through the competition at this point is a group of very dedicated fans. Victoria’s photo is a bit underwhelming and she makes a point of blaming the other models for bullying her. Judge Kelly Catrone admonishes the other contestants and they all shoot murderous looks at Victoria.
After her awful ordeal on the bottom, Laura earns top photo. Runner-up is Kristin and Nastasia gets third. As I suspected, Brittany and Victoria are in the bottom. But Tyra was evidently wrong about Brittany’s social media scores, because Victoria beat her out by a fair amount.
Just when it appears to be over, we get to find out which model has the highest social media scores based on all of her photo shoots. All the eliminated models head into the room to find out who will be returning to the competition. Brittany joins them and then…we roll to credits. Oh come on, cliffhangers like this are no fair!
