X Factor To Make Up For Rain Delay Goof

October 21, 2012 12:00 PM by Megan Wilson

Last week you could practically hear the sobs of X Factor fans complaining about the premature cut-off of the show, as well as a premature airing in other areas!  It was a complete and utter mess.  Simon Cowell even took to Twitter to call the mess a “Total F Up”.  To make up for the snafu, Fox is airing an hour long X Factor on Oct. 23rd.

If you’re just as confused as I was, here’s what went down.  Fans had gotten their popcorn and were tuning in for X Factor at 8 p.m., expecting to see everything like normal.  Instead,  what they saw was a rerun of Ben and Kate. The singing show did resume around 8:40 p.m., but Fox cut out again, airing part of The Mindy Project before rejoining the delayed ball game. According to a Fox spokesperson, the network received word that the delay was expected to last well beyond prime time, so a decision was made to begin airing the show in East Coast markets. An hour into the broadcast, the rain subsided, and when the game was set to resume, the X Factor feed was pulled with the expectation that a switch would be made back to baseball. When that didn’t immediately happen, a partial episode of The Mindy Project was tossed on the air as a stop-gap.  And it gets better.

What made it even worse was that there happened to be a technical issue on the West Coast as well.  The East Coast feed was broadcast PRIOR to the show’s regular 8 p.m. start time, so many viewers saw the results of the show WAY earlier than normal.  What a mess, right?

Well, not only will there be an hour long X Factor on Tuesday, but we will also have Raising Hope, Ben and Kate and New Girl.

Were you just as confused as everyone else?  Are you excited for the hour long make-up episode?

Don’t you hate with Baseball F’s up FOX’s Primetime Schedule pre-empting TV shows?

Here in DC, X Factor was show from 8:40 to 9:40, where it went to commercial after 2 contestants were put through. But after the commercial was over, instead of going back to X Factor FOX showed The Mindy Project until Baseball started around 10PM

Fox really isn’t fixing anything if it airs only a one-hour episode of The X Factor on 10/23. They are assuming that everyone saw the portion of the show that they were so “gracious” as to show us. Those who missed that messed-up airing will only get to see half of the announcements for the live-show contestants. I guess Fox can now claim to be a true, big-time broadcast network since they’ve made such a royal mess of this whole situation, and try to repair it with half-measures.

This is the first season that I have been watching the x-factor. I was really enjoying it and then they brought on one of the Kardashian women. She may be smart, but she sure doesn’t have a voice..She did most of the talking, or should I say yelling or screaming. I had a headache shortly into the show. I will not be watching anymore unless they get someone who sounds good on talk shows. There was an error made by the network but that I can get over. These things happen and they will correct it. However, I can no longer listen to that shrieking woman.

due to having a Kardashian on I will not watch the show and that is how others feel also. It was a bad move on Simon’s part and also getting Kyle to promote one of the boy bands so they would get the votes of kardashian fans is cheating. I hear Kris Jenner wants to manage this boy band and Simon must be in on it so just that alone tells me that this show is fixed.

Simon, made a bug mistake, and her name is Khole Kardashian. Her cheap flirtation, tight short almost can see her keep it under cover poonanny dresses does nothing for her. She speak as if she has a fifth grade education. Please you can not take her off the show fast enough. The season of the X Factor can not X her quick enough.

This BIGGEST mistake X Factor has made this year is having that Kardashian buffoon on stage! OMG she is a complete fool and her overly energetic sidekick is not much better. The only way we can stand watching the show is to record it and fast forward past all scenes with them speaking. Please Simon, surely you can do better than these two? We will not be watching next season if she’s on there again…its just too irritating.

I’m in full agreement with Rebecca on this one. I don’t watch the live shows any longer. I DVR them and fast-forward through the “fill” of anything involving Kardashian. Lopez, I don’t mind, but when the first episode aired and I saw “her”, I just started fast-forwarding through everything. Can’t stand her as it’s obvious she’s reading from a teleprompter and she can’t “ad-lib” AT ALL.

What a horrible decision to cast her as co-host. What did anyone believe made her qualified to do this? At least Mario has hosted before.

I’ve never been a fan of the Kardashians but I kind of admire Khole now – she’s not naturally good but you can see that she is trying really hard. I have a new appreciation of her.

Six months ago it was considered newsworthy! I guess since people are still reading and commenting on it, it is still newsworthy. :)

Just glanced over the list of top ‘reality’ TV shows on the left side of the page. Many may disagree with me but personally I wouldn’t include MANY of those shows in the ‘reality’ genre. Several game shows are listed as are several competition type shows. I do NOT consider shows like that to be ‘reality’ shows. Game shows aren’t as ridiculous & actually have some entertainment value & don’t totally trash good moral living. No I’m not an uptight person who bashes others if they don’t live the ‘straight & narrow’ but I DO think most of the popular ‘reality’ shows (which are totally NOT real) do nothing more than teach others how to be bratty kids, promiscuous teens or greedy, stuck up people in general. Just look over the list. I mean CMON…1 vs. 100, Minute to Win It are GAME shows! Meerkat Manor is a NATURE show. *face palm*
