Melissa Rycroft was taken to the hospital during rehearsals for Dancing With The Stars this week, but despite suffering a head and neck injury, Rycroft went on to perform last night. Today, Melissa and her partner, Tony Dovolani shared their thoughts (and fears) about the injury.
Melissa Rycroft gave us all quite the scare when we learned that she was taken to the hospital over the weekend after suffering an injury on the rehearsal set of Dancing With The Stars. Aside from her family, no one was more frightened than Melissa’s partner, Tony Dovolani. Speaking to People Magazine after the show last night, Tony explained: “She’s a mom, and as a parent, you don’t wish that type of injury on any other parent because the first thing that crossed my mind was, ‘Is she ever going to be able to pick up her baby again?’ Melissa has become a close family friend now, so her safety was my No. 1 concern.”
And while most fans wondered whether or not Rycroft would be able to perform last night, she was finally cleared, much to her delight. Rycroft admitted that she was stressing over whether or not she would be cleared in time though: “Yesterday we didn’t have clearance to dance, so coming into today, we just were happy to be able get out there. What I was told is it was not an option to just sit out one night. So if I didn’t get clearance and the injury was severe enough, they weren’t going to let me back into the competition.”
Despite not being able to move her neck as much as she would have liked to during their group routine, Melissa is just happy that she was given the chance to perform again.
