Monday marked the release of Taylor Swift’s much-anticipated fourth album, Red. The multi-platinum country singer and Punk’d star worked for two years collaborating with new writers and mixing different sounds to put the Red album together. And it didn’t take it long to shoot to #1 on the iTunes Album Chart.
According to MTV, Swift is beside herself that fans can finally listen to her newest collection and they’re “getting it.” At a listening party at Target, Swift said, “This is a crazy feeling. I mean, these are songs that I’ve worked on for two years and worked so hard to make different from everything I’ve done before, and the fans are really getting that. I love that they are understanding that this is something completely new, and it’s just a wonderful feeling.”
Swift, 22 says she likes to keep it real with her fans. “I really tend to draw inspiration from my life and from the characters in my life. And it’s just kind of for me something I’ve always loved doing – watching life play out and kind of making a song out of that.” She added, “I think when people need music the most is when they’re falling in love intensely or they’re falling out of love or losing love, or being let down or frustrated or hurt and you don’t know how to say that – exactly how you feel. And if there’s a song that can hit on it and touch that exact nerve that you’re feeling – it’s why people are so obsessed with music.”
Not only are Swift’s fans getting her new songs, they’ve also been quick to tell her what they think. She explains, “They are all telling me their favorites. It’s so much fun, because their favorites determine my set list for my shows on tour next year. It determines a lot, so I’m just loving seeing the iTunes [songs] chart and getting to see which ones are floating to the top, and I will sit there and go, ‘I didn’t expect that. That’s a really personal, emotional song. I didn’t expect that to be right there at the top of the iTunes chart.’”
It sounds like Swift has produced yet another hit album. What do you think? Do you like the new album, Red? What’s your favorite song? Post a comment below and tell us what you think.
