A post on CBSStore.com’s promotion for their special Halloween section revealed an official early glimpse of the merged tribal buff for Survivor: Philippines. That image has since been removed from the site since it was probably not supposed to be displayed before the merge on the show, but we have a screen capture of it inside this story for you to see what the new buff looks like. Just don’t be too excited for something awesome because it’s basically the same ol’ crap.
Instead of using a vibrant color like they did with the three tribes at the start of this season, the merged buff will be black once again. Yippee! Can you sense my sarcasm? The image below has been expanded in size from the screen capture taken off the site’s small Halloween banner in which it was included (see that banner deeper into this story).
This new buff will appear very soon on the show as the Tandang and Kalabaw tribes are expected to merge on the episode that airs Halloween night. With its mix of orange and black, it’s the perfect colors for the perfect night.
Now, let me complain…
Call me a whiner or a nerd, but I’m irritated with the overuse of black for the merged buff color. It is the most-duplicated merged color having been used eight times now (seasons 7, 12, 13, 15, 20, 22, 24 and now 25). It just seems so boring for the main color representing the remainder of the game to be so unoriginal and uninspired. Plus, fans (like myself) enjoy having the merged buffs signed by the contestants and black is the worst buff color when it comes to autographs. Trust me, silver Sharpies just don’t cut it. I’ve tried.
Like I said, I’m a nerd.
Below is a screen capture of the Halloween promotion in which the merged buff was pictured. NOTE: Despite being advertised in this post, the merged buff was never available to buy on the site. However, this merged buff did pop up on eBay several weeks ago. No others have surfaced since it sold.
What do you think of the merged buff color? Do you like it? Are you tired of it being black? Will you buy one? What color would you like to see next season’s merged buff be? Sound off and leave a comment below!
