Could a recipe for love be on the horizon for two Top Chef’s on this week’s episode of Life After Top Chef? While Richard Blais and Fabio Viviani head to the Big Apple; Jen Carroll and Spike Mendelsohn take a road trip to Virginia where things heat up thanks to a little moonshine! What happens on the Bravo reality TV show? Keep reading for all the juicy details!
Frustrated and disappointed with her stalled restaurant, Jen leaves Philadelphia on a road trip with Spike. The pair embarks on an outrageous crash course in lamb farming! Jen and Spike bond on their drive to Border Spring Farms in Virginia. Spike jokes that watching Jen is like watching an episode of Paris Hilton’s reality series, The Simple Life. Jen competed in Top Chef: Las Vegas Season 6 where she proved she was a tough cookie. She also appeared in Top Chef-All Stars Season 8. Recently, she decided to quit her job with Eric Ripert to open her own restaurant. Unfortunately, negotiations with investors broke down. Now, she’s trying to find funding for her own restaurant.
As for Spike, he was born into the restaurant business and he works with his passionately opinionated family. Currently, he’s working with his family on their popular restaurant-chain, Good Stuff Eatery in Washington D.C. Spike works with his mother, father and sister! He first competed on Top Chef: Chicago Season 4 where he was sent home right before the finale and returned to compete on Top Chef All-Stars Season 8.
While working on the farm Jen reveals that people often think something is going on between her and Spike but she confesses there is nothing saying, “He is a kid trapped in a manly body–if you want to call it that!”
When the sun goes down, the party starts. After a long day of farm chores, the chefs get a little tipsy when they drink moonshine. While the fellow chefs are flirty friends–has something more been developing? No…at least not in this episode.
After a sad and teary farewell with his mom, Fabio jets off to New York for a celebrity chef appearance on Good Morning America. He is met by screaming fans in Times Square and is given VIP treatment. Born and raised in Florence, Italy Fabio was the “fan favorite” from Top Chef: New York Season 5. He also competed on Top Chef All-Stars Season 8 and was the personal Chef to William Shatner. Currently, he is expanding his own brand with cooking classes, endorsement deals and social media. At Good Morning America he partakes in a cooking segment keeping the hosts and the crowd thoroughly entertained!
Also in New York, Richard is cooking at the prestigious Food & Wine Best New Chef event! Richard is from Atlanta and has begun construction on a new restaurant. He is also trying to balance his personal and professional lives but is really feeling the pressure. He was a finalist on Top Chef: Chicago Season 4 and won Top Chef All-Stars Season 8. While in NYC he is promoting his restaurant, The Spence and trying to impress the critics at his culinary event. Unfortunately, things don’t go according to the plan as no food leaves the kitchen causing Richard to freak out since he knows there are hundreds of hungry diners. After the Food & Wine Best New Chef event, Richard and Fabio go on a shopping spree! Later, Richard confides in Fabio and fellow Top Chef alums: Carla Hall, Angelo Sosa and Dale Talde that he feels like he’s not reaching his full potential like his colleagues have been. The group explains to Richard that it takes time and that he is successful and on the right path.
