Taylor Swift’s long list of celebrity exes includes John Mayer, Jake Gylenhall, Taylor Lautner and Joe Jonas. And as the singer and former Punk’d star complained the other day on Ellen, more than one of these guys has sent her some pretty nasty emails. Taylor’s request? Cut it out!
Connor Kennedy may have taken on a huge risk in dating Taylor Swift. Now that news of the couple’s breakup has been released, Connor just might find himself featured in the lyrics of Taylor’s next hit song. Over the years, Taylor’s made it clear that the lyrics her songs are all based on her personal experience. And since most of her songs are about relationships, Taylor’s exes can rest assured knowing that they served as inspiration for some of Taylor’s biggest hits.
Obviously, Taylor Swift’s former boyfriends are not too happy about their featured roles in Taylor’s songs. According to Taylor, even the mere mention of her exes’ names on Ellen is not allowed, “Because they’ll send me angry emails and I don’t want to get them!” Thus, the singer ended up being a complete spoilsport in Ellen Degeneres’ clever game: ring the bell every time a guy featured in Taylor’s lyrics flashes shows up in a slideshow. Although Taylor was able to sit through pictures of Ashton Kutcher and Zac Efron (claiming “There’s nothing really about Zac on the CD … because we didn’t date.”), she became visibly uncomfortable when pictures of Joe Jonas, Taylor Lautner and John Mayer popped up. She protested, “I don’t know if I can do this, this is the one thing I have! This is like the one shred of dignity that I have,” and then worried some more about the potential for nasty emails.
Do you think that Taylor Swift’s exes have a right to be angry about being included in her lyrics? Or should that automatically be expected when you start dating a singer and lyricist? Leave your thoughts in the comments section below!
