There’s been a lot of rumors going around about The X Factor guest judge, Justin Bieber lately. First it was stolen electronic equipment, nude pictures, and threats on Twitter that there was more to follow, which turned out to be a ruse by Bieber himself to then surprise everyone with the breakout video to “Beauty and the Beat” between him and Nicki Minaj. But now there are rumors swirling on Twitter that the pop star has cancer.
According to the Huffington Post, rumors starting flying on Twitter earlier this week when a screenshot of what appeared to be Entertainment Tonight’s Twitter account read, “Pop star Justin Bieber was diagnosed with cancer earlier this morning. Bieber fans are shaving their heads to show their support.” And another tweet suggested fans go #BaldforBieber to show support for their favorite pop star.
The news sent fans reeling and before long, a website called BaldforBieber.com was set up, Facebook pages were created, and tribute videos were launched to add drama and hype. According to Zap 2 it, one video lasting more than 3 minutes played the song “Baby” and showed pictures of Bieber with a long heartfelt message that included stuff like, “Today, the information about Justin having cancer was leaked by an anonymous source. Justin is only 18 years old. To treat his cancer, he has to get chemotherapy.” The video goes on to suggest that the chemotherapy will make Justin go bald and that fans should shave their heads to show him that he’s not alone. And pictures are shown of people who have shaved their heads and are encouraging others to do the same. “I went bald for Justin, will you?”
There’s just one problem, according to Justin Bieber’s bodyguard, Kenny Hamilton; Bieber does not have cancer! This too has been an elaborate hoax created by the online bulletin board 4Chan. Unfortunately; many fans fell for the hoax before the truth could be revealed. More than 900 fans tweeted #BaldforBieber this week and according to radio station 105.1, a few fans shaved their heads in support of their idol and then tweeted pics.
What do you think of the latest Justin Bieber hoax? And when did cancer become something to joke about? Post a comment below and let us know what you think.
