Project Runway All Stars, Season 2 kicked off with a tough first challenge. The thirteen contestants were split into two groups and were asked to design a mini collection with attitude. Although each designer was responsible for only one design within the collection, the designers had to work together to present a cohesive mini collection to represent their team. At the end of the challenge, Peach’s design was found to be the least desirable and she was out. Keep reading after the jump to see what Peach had to say about being eliminated from the competition.
According to Lifetime, Peach responded to being the first designer out by saying, “To be the first all star eliminated here on season two, of course I’m disappointed but I expected it. I really did. And you know what, it’s okay,” she said. There was no following my gut in this challenge. I was out voted. My ideas were shot down right away,” she added referring to working with fellow designers on Team Bold.
Peach went on to say, “This just wasn’t my aesthetic. It wasn’t my fabric. I was doing something my heart wasn’t set on because I was told my aesthetic doesn’t work for this group,” she explained. “So what do you do with that?”
When it came time to stand before the judges and discuss her design, Peach said, “I touched fabric that I have not put my hands on since I learned how to sew in fourth grade with Mrs. Murphy.”
This didn’t set well with Isaac who said, “Before you started speaking, I thought that you might say something to make me like it better – and the more you talk, the more I dislike it; I have to say. So you should stop talking.” Then he added, “That sleeve is so badly fitted.”
In the end, Peach realized, “The judges kind of hated it. I didn’t have any argument with it. It was bad. It wasn’t me; it so wasn’t me.” She added, “This challenge gave me no chance whatsoever to do what I came out here to do.”
Peach believes she would have had a better chance of moving on to the next challenge if she had been able to work independently. “If it wasn’t a team challenge, I would be going on to the second challenge,” she said. “There’s no doubt about it. I think I did what I could in the situation I was in, and I think I will take away with me – don’t tell me that my aesthetic doesn’t fit because it fits who I am.”
What do you think about Peach’s comments? Do you think her teammates shot down her ideas? Or is she just making excuses for a poor design? Post a comment below and let us know what you think.
