Kirstie Alley Reacts To Sabrina Bryan DWTS Elimination

October 31, 2012 01:40 PM by Stephanie Gustafson

Poor Sabrina Bryan. Despite being one of the best performers Dancing with the Stars has ever seen, the former Cheetah Girl has once again been cut from the competition far too early. The audience was obviously surprised, but it looks like Sabrina’s fellow competitors were shocked as well. And none more so than Kirstie Alley.

As much as we love Kirstie Alley’s antics, we were kinda hoping she’d be voted off Dancing with the Stars. Kirstie is certainly entertaining, but (in spite of her inflated 8.5 scores from the judges) still the weakest dancer on the show. Instead, Sabrina Bryan found herself once again cheated of a mirror ball and the bragging rights that come with the trophy.

Kirstie Alley was surprised that Sabrina didn’t make the cut this week, especially given the fact that she ended two weeks of competition on the top of the leaderboard. After the surprising elimination, Kirstie told Access Hollywood that the only thing that didn’t surprise her anymore was the constant presence of surprises on DWTS. ”It’s always shocking. It’s the history of Dancing with the Stars that you’re shocked.”

Echoing our sentiments about the importance of a strong fan base, Kirstie added, “This game was created by ABC and the game is fan base and dancing, and sometimes the finale is filled with the best dancers and sometimes it’s not. Fan base is a great thing, and being a great dancer is a great thing, but we each have our own story and we each have our own journey.”

Were you surprised to see Sabrina Bryan eliminated so early? Are you ready to see Kirstie head home? Feel free to share your reactions to last night’s results in the comments section below!

Well said Kirstie – this show is full of surprises. Well, I am glad we wll be seeing more of you in the show as I enjoy your performances a lot. You are not the best dancer in the world, we all know that, but you have ‘that something’ I can’t express that you make it so fun. Go Kirstie go!

Yes, it was heartbreaking to see Sabrina B let go again in week 6…..she is a phenomenal dancer and I really think it is WAY past time for Louie or Tony to win a season ! I have grown tired of the Kirstie lusts after Maks thing….(especially since he’s dating Peta !)
You can see she has gained most of her weight back and she is exhausted from the practices and performances….After her, Emmet should go…he has so much charisma , but he the weakest male dancer still on right now….Apolo and , Gilles (who is really bugging me this season ! he wants it WAY too much this time around!) are much better. I have watched this show for so long now. I do like all the ways they are switching up the dance choices etc this season….wish they’d replace Brooke Burke Charvet though……although her dresses have been stunning this season….

Not surprised to see Sabrina leave as she clearly does not have a large enough fan base. Plus, many did not appreciate the judges shoving her down our throats!
Agree that there’s something special and endearing about Kirstie. Love her sense of humour, her work ethics and entertainment qualities. Plus, Kirstie CAN dance, though it’d be true to say she’s not the best dancer left. Certainly hope to see more of Kirstie and Maks and will be voting hard to keep them in.

I think Kriste is an intelliegnt and charming person. She is correct is staing that this is not a dance contest, but a fan based rating counts for the program. My opinion of her has grown 10 fold after I found out what she did to help the people of New York. Kriste, keeping on being who you are. You are a beautiful and intelligent person. I whish there were more people in the wourld like you.

We were late comers to DWTS, but quickly became regular watchers. The issue that’s reared it’s head in the past few years shows the one weakness in the format. The fact that Audience call in is weighted as heavily as the judges scores has lead to the early and surprising dismissal of top contenders is damaging to the show.
I LOVE Kristi, and admire her work to dance on a competitive level. But being honest she wasn’t as good as Sabrina…not even close. To have her win the week just because she’s popular isn’t fair to anyone. Kristi Love ya to pieces, and glad to see you there… but the rating system for the show’s gotta change if it’s to survive.
