Stock up on the chips, mark your calendar and start clearing off your DVR! It may seem like Survivor: Philippines just started, but CBS is already gearing up for the big finale when one castaway will walk away with a check worth $1 million. The network has announced that Survivor: Philippines — the show’s outstanding 25th season — will come to a close on Sunday, Dec. 16.
As is typical, the finale will be three hours total, the first two of which are pre-taped segments from the location. After Jeff Probst announces the winner in front of a live studio audience in Hollywood, he will quickly change clothes to host the traditional one-hour reunion show.
At this point, there are still 10 castaways left in the game who are all now a part of the Dangrayne (merged) tribe: Malcolm Freberg, Abi-Maria Gomes, Jeff Kent, Jonathan Penner, Michael Skupin, Artis Silvester, Denise Stapley, Lisa Whelchel, Carter Williams and Pete Yurkowski.
The part that I always find myself extremely excited about on finale night comes at the end of the reunion show when Probst offers a brief tease at the upcoming season. Strong speculation indicates the already-filmed 26th season, which also takes place in the Philippines, will be done in the same vein as season 16 (Fans Vs. Favorites) by pitting former memorable castaways up against a clan of newbies.
As always, I will be there at the finale to bring you exclusive red carpet interviews with the top-finishing players.
Who do you think is currently the most likely castaway to win the entire game and the $1 million prize? Do you think either of the two remaining veterans (Mike Skupin and Jonathan Penner) stand a chance at winning? What are your thoughts on this season overall? Do you have any special Survivor finale traditions or do you throw a big party? Sound off and leave a comment below!
