It takes a mix of personality, knowledge and skills to win the coveted title of Top Chef. The winning chef will receive $125,000 furnished by Healthy Choice, a feature in Food & Wine magazine, a showcase at the Annual Food & Wine Classic in Aspen and will earn the title of “Top Chef.”
Tom welcomes the contestants to his restaurant, Craft in Los Angeles. Tom will base his decision on how the chefs impress him in his own kitchen while working actual service. The chefs also get to do some butchering that Tom will serve the customers. In the end Tom picks, Lizzie Binder from Napa; Micah Fields from Los Angeles; and John Tesar from Dallas to move on to Seattle.
In Las Vegas, at Emeril Lagasse’s Table 10 he challenges the cheftestants to make soup. After rushing around the kitchen and giving it everything they’ve got, Emeril selects Joshua Valentine from Oklahoma City; Kristen Kish from Boston; and Jeffrey Jew from Washington D.C. to move on to Seattle.
In Beverly Hills at Wolfgang Puck’s Cut, he asks the chefs to cook omelets. From mushrrooms to salad to zucchini the hopefuls try their best to impress the culinary pioneer. After looking at the omelets and then tasting them, Wolfgang picks Carla Pellegrino from Las Vegas; Chrissy Camba from Chicago; Kuniko Yagi from Los Angeles; Eliza Gavin from Telluride; and Tyler Wiard from Denver to move on to Seattle.
In Atlanta at Hugh Acheson’s Empire State South, the contestants prepare salads. With lots of interesting interpretations Hugh selects Brooke Williamson from Los Angeles; Danyele McPherson from Dallas; Sheldon Simeon from Hawaii; and Bart Vandaele from Washington D.C. to move on to Seattle.
