First Lady and Extreme Makeover: Home Edition guest star, Michelle Obama is hitting the news not because her husband, President Barack Obama won the election last night, but because she wore an outfit that she’d already worn previously in public. Are you kidding me? Do the American people not think there are more important issues surrounding the President and First Lady than her choice of dress on election night?
According to ABC News, Michelle Obama recycled a dress she had worn on two previous occasions in public. “Kors is pleased to announce that the First Lady, Michelle Obama, wore a Michael Kors magenta silk chine pintucked dress,” the designer boasted.
When questioned about her dress choice, a source close to Michelle said, she was so busy with the campaign and their kids that she had no time to think about an outfit and decided at the last minute.” Who cares? The First Lady’s dress is not the issue here. However, wouldn’t you agree that by wearing a dress she’d previously worn, Michelle makes a statement that it’s okay to be seen in public wearing the same outfit more than once? Doesn’t it show that she’s more down to earth like one of the American people instead of high and mighty above us and can’t dare be seen in an outfit more than once? After all, I’m sure she had the dress cleaned between wears.
Isabel Wilkinson of The Daily Beast’s said, “The new Michelle is all about restraint. … It was an understated, economical choice at the culmination of a campaign that, for the first lady, has been about just that.”
What do you think of Michelle Obama wearing a dress on election night that she’d previously worn in public? Does her dress even matter? Post a comment below and tell us what you think.
