The X Factor Recap: Top 13 Results
November 08, 2012 11:17 PM by Melissa Stavarski
Last week on The X Factor, the judges narrowed the Top 16 down to the Top 12. Last night, the Top 12 plus 1 surprise performed, hoping for votes. Who does America vote into the (new) Top 12? Who goes home? Are Demi Lovato and Simon Cowell still bickering? Keep reading for all the details!
In no particular order, Khloe Kardashian and Mario Lopez announce the Top 12. The first five: Arin Ray, Paige Thomas, Diamond White, Vino Alan, and Jennel Garcia. Simon is three seconds from throwing a temper tantrum because no groups have been advanced yet.
Next, Emblem3, Carly Rose Sonenclar, Tate Stevens, Beatrice Miller, Lyric145, and Fifth Harmony are told they, too, are safe.
Jason Brock and CeCe Frey must sing for survival. CeCe chooses Cher’s “You Haven’t Seen The Last if Me” and Jason sings “Total Eclipse of the Heart” by Bonnie Tyler.
Demi sends Jason home. L.A. Reid sends CeCe home. As expected, they cancel each other out. Britney Spears wants to cut CeCe. Simon wants to say goodbye to Jason. So, we go to deadlock. Based on America’s vote, Jason goes home.
Finally, Mario announces that The X Factor will reveal the contestants’ exact rank based on America’s vote. Can someone explain to me why they went through the trouble of announcing the Top 12 “in no particular order” just 15 minutes ago? (why not kill two birds with one stone?) Anyway, Mario is super pumped up about this announcement, as it’s never been done by any other musical reality show.
Top 12 Leaderboard:
1. Tate Stevens! Who’s shocked?
Tate’s initial reaction: “Wow. Obviously, people in America don’t get out a lot.” On a more serious note, Tate says, “Thank you so very much. This is huge, not only for me and my family, but for the show. This is very big.”
2. Carly Rose Sonenclar
3. Vino Alan
4. Diamond White
I knew Simon would bring her back. I called it last week.
5. Fifth Harmony
Fifth Harmony is in fifth place. Oh, the irony. Will they be eliminated at top five?
6. Emblem3
Simon is in shock. He totally expected Emblem3 to place first.
7. Jennel Garcia
Oops! There goes Demi’s Young Adults! Simon is right, of course.
8. Paige Thomas
I thought she’d be way lower. Like, on her way home.
9. Lyric145
Bummer. Not so supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.
10. Beatrice Miller
I thought she’d be way higher.
11. Arin Ray
12. CeCe Frey
Is it just me – or was that entire hour one hot mess? Missed cues, awkward pauses, and ridiculous product plugs from the hosts and pointless introductions from the judges. The contestants aren’t much better. Where do I walk? Where do I stand? Do I go stage left or stage right? Eh, I don’t know what to do so I’ll just be over here… touching the audience members’ hands.
Were you surprised to see Jason and CeCe in the bottom two? Did Jason deserve to go? Who are you rooting for? Sound off in the comments below!
