Taylor Swift, Punk’d starlet, is adding another HUGE event to her calendar besides co-hosting the grammy nominations-she’s headlining ABC’s 5 1/2 hour special, “New Years Rockin’ Eve”! The show will be centered around the passing of Dick Clark earlier this year in April. The event will be hosted by Ryan Seacrest, Jenny McCarthy in Manhattan, and Fergie in Los Angeles.
The special will be aired on Dec 31st, and will boast a 2 hour tribute within the show devoted to Dick Clark. The tribute will feature clips from Dick Clark’s life, along with memories and messages from friends and family of the “American Bandstand” host. Clark hosted the event for four decades, and is sorely missed. Taylor Swift will be headlining, no doubt performing songs from her highly promoted “Red” album, which has sold over 1 million copies in it’s first week. Other acts have yet to be announced.
Ryan Seacrest is excited about seeing Taylor headline the event, saying, “I remember meeting and listening to Taylor Swift perform before she even had her first single. I was blown away by her talent and just knew that she would be a huge success. Taylor is truly this year’s global star and is the perfect artist to ring in the New Year for us at the crossroads of the world.”
Taylor has been BUSY this year-maybe the New Years Show will be her last hurrah before a much needed break?
I think that everyone can say that they miss Dick Clark. Most generations grew up with him gracing their homes with his warm smile and gregarious laughter. There’s no doubt that the tribute will be a tear jerker!
Will you be tuning into the show?
