It takes a mix of personality, knowledge and skills to win the coveted title of Top Chef. The winning chef will receive $125,000 furnished by Healthy Choice, a feature in Food & Wine magazine, a showcase at the Annual Food & Wine Classic in Aspen and will earn the title of “Top Chef.”
This week the judges include Tom Colicchio, Emeril Lagasse, Gail Simmons, and famed Seattle chef and restaurateur Tom Douglas. The contestants are Lizzie Binder from Napa; Micah Fields from Los Angeles; John Tesar from Dallas; Joshua Valentine from Oklahoma City; Kristen Kish from Boston; Jeffrey Jew from Washington D.C.; Carla Pellegrino from Las Vegas; Chrissy Camba from Chicago; Kuniko Yagi from Los Angeles; Eliza Gavin from Telluride; Tyler Wiard from Denver; Brooke Williamson from Los Angeles; Danyele McPherson from Dallas; Sheldon Simeon from Hawaii; and Bart Vandaele from Washington D.C.

The light blue team made up of John Tesar, Sheldon Simeon and Kuniko Yagi win the challenge with their Geoduck! The three chefs draw knives for immunity and John wins it.
Then, in a surprising twist, the veterans announce that they will be joining the competition. For their first Elimination Challenge, the chefs must make dishes using regional ingredients for legendary Seattle chef, Tom Douglas. They have 47 minutes to make the dishes, which is the amount of time it takes for the venue, the Space Needle to rotate once.
The chefs serve their dishes to the judges. In the end, Kuniko’s chili oil along with their fish impresses the judges and her dish is the best one this week. In an interesting turn of events, the veterans are actually in the bottom. Ultimately, the judges eliminate Jeffrey Jew for overcooking his fish.
