Courtney Stodden of VH1′s Couple Therapy is unfortunately making headlines again. The now 18 year old Courtney was previously known for marrying Doug Hutchison when she was 16, and subsequently trapsing around pumpkin patches and Los Angeles half naked to show everyone she’s “100% real”. She event went so far as to have a sonogram of her breasts done on the Dr. Drew show to prove her assets were natural. Now, however, she’s getting some bad press as her singing debut has been cancelled; her mom thinks it’s because Courtney is too wild for the club!
Courtney was seemingly excited about her debut Nov. 21 at the Abbey in West Hollywood, where she was going to perform her new single, “Reality”, while swinging on a pole (Of course!). In an interview with E!, she said, “I’m super excited, it’s going to be such a fun night! You can expect to see a whole lot of sexy—me singing live and super-hot backup dancers!” She was also excited to show her support for the gay community by appearing at the gay bar, saying, “Oh, my goodness, the Abbey is the biggest gay nightclub in the world! I love, adore and respect the gay community so much and can’t wait to meet everyone. I can’t think of anywhere else to spend Thanksgiving!”
Unfortunately, the Abbey changed their minds, cancelling Stodden’s appearance. A rep for the bar released a statement, saying, “Her management approached the Abbey but ultimately she just wasn’t a fit.” Courtney’s team, specifically, her mom, disagrees. Mom chimed in and said “It was too much for the Abbey to handle, too much press and controversy. Courtney’s not disappointed. She rolls with the punches.”
Another rep for Courtney, Jim Strzalkowski, said that it’s not clear why her appearence was cancelled. “The reasons for the cancellation provided by SBE are a mystery to us and based on fear, in our opinion. It is most unfortunate that a venue such as the SBE-controlled Abbey needs to approve and censor performers that audiences want to see, and would not be able to control the crowds and paparazzi anxious to see Courtney’s show. Courtney Stodden has a huge gay fan base and truly loves and adores everyone in the community. At this time, Courtney is heartbroken and we are currently seeking alternate opportunities for Courtney to make her debut club performance in West Hollywood.”
