America’s Next Top Model Recap: College Edition Season Finale

November 16, 2012 07:08 PM by Martha Zaborowski

Three girls remain: Kiara, Laura, and Leila. Which college cutie will be crowned America’s Next Top Model on the CW?

The battle for the fiercest is being held at a haunted hall in Jamaica. I’m not sure what is more terrifying: the haunted hall or Tyra Banks’ fake Jamaican accent. But let’s start with the girls’ photo shoots.

During Laura’s photo shoot, Kelly Cutrone and the photographer are fighting, which delays her photo shoot. Laura doesn’t think that’s fair and starts crying. Leila needs to work on her connection with the product from head to toe, but her ponytail looks fierce. Kiara wasn’t giving the camera energy, which was surprising.

The girls then have a photo shoot for Nylon magazine. Off the 3 girls, Leila was the most Nylon-looking because she is considered “off-looking.” I guess this is a compliment in the modeling world. The girls’ parents (and Kiara’s grandma) show up to their photo shoot and they are thrilled to see them.

The final 3 and some former ANTM contestants are walking in their runway challenge wearing crazy couture costumes.

There’s this weird transition of the ladies being haunted and their “earthly lives being claimed,” so the audience has to put on masks to protect themselves. The girls have to take their spirit bodies to the runway to reclaim their “mortal smizes” and fight for the title of America’s Next Top Model. (I don’t know what Tyra was smoking in Jamaica, but I want some of that. )

Leila tripped on the runway! Twice! She has to regain composure though because she has to walk again. This time she does not trip.

Laura won three challenges; so if she wins America’s Next Top Model, she gets $30,000 in scholarship money. Kiara would get $40,000 in extra scholarship money for her four winning challenges. Leila only won one challenge, but that’s still $10,000 in scholarship money if she wins. Leila tries to make excuses for her tripping, but Kelly Cutrone does not want to hear it.

Their Nine West photos are being examined by the judges and by social media commentary. Laura looks sexy in her photo shoot. Kiara has a pea-head in her picture. If high fashion went on a date with commercial and got a little frisky is the equivalent of Leila’s photo, according to Tyra.

So who should win? Commercial beauty Laura, edgy Leila, or athletic Kiara?

We start with Leila. Her pictures are stunning but she cannot walk, so she is not America’s Next Top Model. Kiara didn’t start off strong but killed it in Jamaica. Laura did worse as the season went on, but what do their overall scores indicate? Laura wins America’s Next Top Model! Laura is representing it for the girls with butts.

What do you think of the winner of America’s Next Top Model Cycle 19?

they say Laura is repping for the girls with the butts. I think she is repping for the girls who are self absorbed mean bitches.

Leila was a thousand times better

Kelly Cutrone made me sick last night on the finale the way she snapped at Leila for “making excuses” for falling on the runway. I hate having her for a judge on the show and she’s brings out the worst in everyone around her. She even managed to tangle with her photographer which messed up Laura’s shoot. She didn’t like the way he spoke to her but yet she had no problem treating Leila like a jerk. She needs to leave the show, pronto! She’s a hypocrite and a disgrace to society.

It may be true that Luara did not want to be in her parents’ shadow, but Kiara represents many girls in America. She showed even athletes such as myself can be beautiful and not always sporty. Her Hispanic culture showed that not all models are from European decent. In my opinion, Kiara represents girls in America. In my heart, she is America’s top model, but good for Laura. I hope her career as a model is going well.
