Honey Boo Boo: Made Of Trash
November 21, 2012 09:21 AM by Megan Wilson
Art connoisseurs, get ready. This piece of artwork isn’t for sale yet, but when it goes up, we’re pretty sure it’s going to sell quickly. There’s not a piece of art in this world that thoroughly embodies it’s subject, Honey Boo Boo, more clearly than Jason Mecier’s new piece. It’s a 3-D rendering of the Here Comes Honey Boo Boo star Alaina Thompson, made completely of trash. Jason’s work usually uses items that embody it’s subject, and for this incredible piece, he used reclaimed trash. Kinda cool, and probably kinda stinky in a year or two.
Jason Mecier explained the piece by saying, “Highlights include two cans of hair spray, three tiaras, make-up, mascara, fake eyelashes, coupons, sketti, butter, ten cheese balls, two Red Bulls, one Mountain Dew, a McDonald’s chicken nugget, a pink Snuggy box, an empty toilet paper roll, one cabbage patch doll and a jar of Pigs Feet. No roadkill was injured during the making of this portrait!”
Personally, the Cabbage Patch Doll really takes the cake for me. It’s just too perfect. I also LOVE the Snuggie box cut-out at the bottom, “It’s a blanket with sleeves!” If you take a close look, the piece almost becomes a game, where your eyes catch something new every few seconds. The whole portrait weighs in at over 25 lbs, and took 50 hours to make. Really, I’m sure that chicken nugget and can’t be smelling all that great right now, even under sealant. But who am I to judge? One person’s art is another person’s garbage! Oh, wait.
What do you think of the portrait?

Its the spitting image of her! “TRASH!!”

I think that there are adults who need a good spanking if all they have to do is heap ugliness on a little girl.

The portrait is different but cute. It’s really nice piece to be made out of garbage.

Funny … trash used to make art depicting more trash.

I believe that’s called “truth in advertising”

This family lives a very simple life and seems happy doing what they do. They enjoy being who they are, not pretending to be something they are not. They are who they are, people who enjoy where they live and their family.

Finally…someone who sees her for who her famly is.

Redundancy at it’s best!
November 21st, 2012 at 12:25 pm
I think it’s terrible that adults have nothing better to do than to say mean things about a little girl who has no control over her circumstances.
November 21st, 2012 at 12:26 pm
Wow, people make such nasty comments. Lot of miserable people in this world.

If the shoe fits…..

When do we get to see the one of her Mama? Just as trashy and WAY bigger.
November 21st, 2012 at 4:16 pm
I wonder what people would say about you if they were asked and no one knew who they were. Personally, I don’t think much of the people making comments on this board…nasty and rude. With some discipline, the kid could be better but all of you have thrown the towel in on her. Typical judgemental Americans!

Love It! Want It! Gotta Have It!

I’ve always thought America was “Land of the Free, Home of the Brave”.
Why are you calling your children TRASH? She’s a little girl! Some TV honcho puts her on TV and makes money off of her and her family and you are calling HER trash? This is one little girl you LET fall through the cracks
November 21st, 2012 at 5:35 pm
I can not believe all the hate Comments.
November 21st, 2012 at 5:59 pm
Very apt. The show is total garbage. Bunch of fat, ugly red-necks who have managed to make “rednecks” look worse. Thanks again reality TV.

OK! In my opinion, this art went too far … this artist is trying to tell us how trashy this girl is. Is it her fault? Come on now, she is just a child! The MOTHER should be in the portrait, not that innocent child. Her mother made her that way. I pity for the child, she’s gonna hate her mom for what she will become!!!
