It seems that Chris Brown‘s past may be catching up with him again. The American Idol guest star had a concert booked for December 26th to take place in Guyana, which happens to be Rihanna’s mothers hometown. When news of the concert broke, protests against Chris Brown‘s appearance began, surfacing from his attack on Rihanna in 2009.
Hits & Jams Entertainment, the concert’s promoter, confirmed that Brown had blamed “discomfort with the protests” from women’s rights groups and opposition lawmakers for the cancellation of the event. Women’s rights group and local lawmakers said that Chris Brown would never be welcome in Guyana. In 2009, Brown hit, choked and bit Rihanna during an altercation in Los Angeles. He later pleaded guilty to assault and underwent counseling. He also got a very controversial tattoo on his neck resembling a battered Rihanna, which he said was a Dia De Los Muertos-MAC designed tattoo instead.
A rep from Brown’s camp has gone on the offensive, and states that the reason for the cancellation isn’t the protests; however, the rep doesn’t reveal the true motive behind the back-out, saying “This concert was never confirmed. The promoter is being untruthful.”
While we’re not very quick to believe anyone from Brown’s team, we are very sure that the pair have settled their differences, after being seen together multiple times engaged in PDAs and even collaborating on Rihanna’s new album, Unapologetic, performing “Nobody’s Business“. Chris brown was dating model Karrueche Tran, however, the couple split after Chris Brown was seen in the company of Rihanna multiple times.
What do you think of the cancellation? Are the protests the reason for the cancellation or is it something else? Let us know in the comments!
