We weren’t all that thrilled when America’s Next Top Model favorites Jay Manuel, Miss J and Nigel Barker were replaced with the whiny Bryanboy and Tyra’s muscle-man boyfriend Rob Evans. And now that Rob Evans has turned himself in to the police after assault allegations, we’re crossing our fingers that he won’t be back for another season!
Rob Evans always seemed a bit grumpy during his short time on America’s Next Top Model, but we never suspected that he’d be turning himself in for felony assault. But that’s exactly what happened when the Top Model judge found himself slapped with a search warrant. Rob turned himself in early on Wednesday morning and was released shortly after posting a whopping $60,000 for bail.
Turn out, this little bit of legal drama goes back all the way to March of this year, when the altercation actually occurred. Sources close to Rob Evans claim that he was acting out in self-defense, but said acting out was violent enough to land the so-called perpetrator in the hospital. Not that it would take much for Rob to land someone in hospital, seeing as he’s a former boxer and all.
The Beverly Hills police department issued a warrant for Rob Evans several months ago, but given his cooperation with the authorities, was not required to immediately track him down. That all changed in the last few weeks, when Rob suddenly stopped communicating with the authorities.
No court date is set at this point, but once it is, it will be interesting to see how Rob’s legal issues pan out. We were hoping that all this might result in him getting kicked off America’s Next Top Model, but then again, if his premiere took place just a few months after the beating and the initial warrant, a sketchy legal background apparently doesn’t mean much to the producers.
