Is Lindsay Lohan’s Career Over? Ratings Just OK For Liz & Dick

November 26, 2012 04:30 PM by Martha Zaborowski

Many thought the Lifetime network cast Lindsay Lohan as Elizabeth Taylor simply to draw in viewers for Liz & Dick and not necessarily for her talent. The critics have spoken on Lindsay’s acting with overwhelmingly negative reviews for Liz & Dick. Now the viewers have spoken on their interest in Lindsay Lohan with the ratings for Liz & Dick. What were the ratings for Liz & Dick?

According to TV By The Numbers, 3.5 million viewers tuned into the inaugural telecast of Liz & Dick. Although these are better numbers than many other Lifetime movies, they are not the spectacular ratings Lifetime must have desired in what some call their “stunt casting” of Lindsay Lohan.

Lifetime has seem much better ratings for recent movies this year. Drew Peterson: Untouchable, starring Rob Lowe, had 5.8 million viewers and was Lifetime’s most-watched movie since The Pregnancy Pact. Lifetime then followed up those outstanding ratings with a recreation of Steel Magnolias, starring Queen Latifah, which dominated with 6.5 million viewers. Liz & Dick ratings feel like one big shrug in comparison. In fact, Liz & Dick is only the fourth most-watched Lifetime movie in 2012.

It’s not all bad news for Lindsay. Lindsay does have several projects coming out soon, including a cameo in Scary Movie 5 starring Charlie Sheen (who reportedly gave her $100,000 to pay off her back taxes). Still, it must be disappointing for Lindsay to face such enormous criticism in her personal and professional life when she claims all she really wants to do is focus on her career. Maybe the former Punk’d guest star should reconsider reality TV.

What do you think about the Liz & Dick ratings?
