The Voice Recap: Game Changers

November 26, 2012 09:33 PM by Shayla Perry

We’re getting close! It’s down to the Top 8 artists on NBC‘s The Voice, and the competition is definitely heating up. Tonight, the members of Teams Adam, Blake, Christina, and Cee Lo compete for your votes again, PLUS, a performance from Adam Levine and 50 Cent!

Tonight on The Voice….

After 50 Cent and Adam Levine took to the stage to perform their new hit, “My Life” (the edited version), Adam’s Amanda Brown takes on Adele’s “Someone Like You”…the rock version.

It’s a brilliant decision by Levine to change up the song, giving Amanda another “Dream On” moment that’ll hopefully carry her through to next week. Christina Aguilera is still “tryin’ to figure it out” though. Oh well.

Cody Belew hopes to keep Cee Lo’s Team staying strong with Queen’s “Somebody to Love.” Again, Cee Lo’s bringin’ out the big guns— a gospel choir. It’s one of our fave performances from the Arkansas native, despite a few flaws, but it’s Cody…he can do no wrong in our eyes. How long will that last?

Terry McDermott is doing his coach’s song, “Over.” Though Christina doesn’t seem to be too thrilled about it (what’s her deal tonight?!), it’s another great one from the rocker.

Melanie Martinez is pulling a Taylor Swift and using her recent break-up to propel her forward in the competition. Instead of writing about her love life though, she’s performing “Too Close,” and yes…she busted out the tambourine again. It’s the best critique she’s gotten from Christina (even though she started it off by saying, “It didn’t go anywhere.”), but still…it was good.

Christina’s golden boy — well, her only boy — is singing Justin Bieber’s “You Smile,” which seems fitting. Look out Bieber! You’ve got some competition! Dez Duron could just go all the way. It’s not his best, but with all of the fans out there, we wouldn’t be surprised if he stayed in there until the very end.

Cee Lo’s Trevin Hunte is going back to what he does best — power ballads — singing “The Greatest Love of All.” We’re starting to run out of ways to say that this guy is phenomenal, so…. [insert your own wonderful things about Trevin Hunte here].

Another Team Cee Lo phenom — Nicholas David is singing “What’s Goin’ On,” and holy buckets, frickin’ Bill Withers pops into his rehearsal to give him some props and pointers. Pointers that we don’t think he really needed, because once again, Nicholas brings the house down with his soulful sounds.

Closing out the show, Team Blake’s Cassadee Pope is doing “Are You Happy Now?” It’s the perfect fit for her, though we have to admit that we do love it when she goes a little bit country. Is Cassadee the Season 3 winner?
