Flipping Out Season Finale Recap: An Emotional Goodbye
November 27, 2012 09:05 PM by Lisa Princ
All season long, Jeff Lewis has kept the drama flowing on Bravo’s Flipping Out, questioning everyone’s intentions. We’ve watched him go back and forth with Andrew, have fights with Zoila and Gage, and even a throw a massive tantrum at Jenni Pulos. Tonight however, the drama came to a complete halt as Jeff Lewis had to say the most emotional goodbye of his life, in the season finale that no one saw coming.
Sometimes it takes a tragedy to pull people closer together, and that definitely proved to be the case on the season finale of Flipping Out. Just when we all began to question whether or not Jeff Lewis had gone crazy, or if he was really heartless, he proved that he does have a heart.
The finale kicked off with Jeff having more issues with his cat, Monkey, leaving us all wondering why we weren’t watching Jeff and Jenni go at it. But, Monkey played a huge part in tonight’s episode – we’ll get to that later. First, Jeff and Jenni could not come to an agreement, and Jenni pleaded that she would rather Jeff fire her, than lose him as her friend. This led the pair back to therapy with Dr. Donna – yeah, we know, again.
Meanwhile, back at Spring Oak, the gang were preparing for yet another move! Gage was finally able to rejoice, because they were moving into Gramercy – can’t say we didn’t see that one coming after the recent listing of Spring Oak. However, in the back of Gage’s mind, he knew that there was a possibility that the move may only be temporary. Later, Jeff and Gage discussed their future, and the possibility of having children. They both agreed that would like to go the route of a private adoption. Hmm, perhaps we will see babies next season?
Speaking of babies, Jenni announced (to the cameras) that she was late with her period, but she was not about to tell Jeff…yet. Sounds like we may see multiple babies next season at this rate. At their therapy session, Jeff finally admitted that he loved Jenni – yep, he said it! It was a bittersweet moment, and Jeff also admitted that he was scared that Jenni would get pregnant and leave him. Jenni also admitted that she loved Jeff, and after some back and forth arguing, the pair were able to overcome the Cabo issue.
And just when it seemed that things were finally going well for everyone…tragedy struck. Jeff’s beloved cat, Monkey, took a turn for the worse. The poor thing was not eating, and Jeff had discovered numerous bumps all over him. Monkey was rushed to the vet, who told Jeff that Monkey’s body was shutting down. With Gage, Jenni, and Zoila by his side, Jeff decided that it was time to put the cat down. Everyone was in tears by this point, even Jeff Lewis, who thanked Monkey for being his cat, and then forced a smile as the dying cat laid there looking at him.
It was definitely a very emotional moment, but it was also the moment when Jeff realized that he was surrounded by people who care deeply for him and he should have never questioned any of them. Now the question is – will we see a changed Jeff Lewis next season? Probably not, but we can hope, right?

I was in tears watching last night’s finale. It was horrible seeing Jeff lose his cat. I have an 18 year old cat of my own and nothing will ever prepare me for when his time comes. But I’m happy he and Jenni reconciled and everyone was united in the end as they celebrated Monkey’s life.

I was sadden by the loss of Monkey. I lost my beloved cat last month and seeing this episode brought back all the tears over my beloved Marquito. I certainly can relate to Jeff, as he seems more comfortable with his lovely pets and a few close friends in his circle. They are so loyal and never want anything from you only love.
RIP Monkey
