Bravo recently premiered its new series, Life After Top Chef which as its title implies–follows the professional and personal lives of former Top Chef contestants. Fans have been watching the trials and tribulations of Jen Carroll, Richard Blais, Fabio Viviani and Spike Mendelsohn. This season viewers saw Spike expand his chain Good Stuff Eatery; Richard launch his new restaurant, The Spence; and Fabio work on a new beverage line. Meanwhile, Jen has continued to struggle in her efforts to open her own restaurant in her hometown of Philadelphia. But, according to her blog, Jen is bringing Concrete Blonde to the Big Apple!
Jen competed in Top Chef: Las Vegas Season 6 where she proved she was a tough cookie. She also appeared in Top Chef-All Stars Season 8. Recently, she decided to quit her job with Eric Ripert to open her own restaurant. Unfortunately, while going over specifics with her investors, negotiations fell through. Now, she’s trying to find funding for her own restaurant.
In her Bravo blog, Jen shares that her life has been filled with changes: she is single, moved into a new apartment, started her own business and has had the opportunity to spend time with her family. She has also been busy with her business, Carroll Couture Cuisine. But now for the spoiler alert–after watching Jen try almost everything possible to open a restaurant in Philly she says she is getting ready to move to New York City to start the construction of Concrete Blonde! Jen says that her menu is very seafood-focused with “subtle and complex flavors.”
