Christina Aguilera Sounds Off Following Dez Duron’s Elimination

December 01, 2012 04:00 PM by Donna W. Martin

Christina Aguilera, judge on NBC’s, The Voice had a lot to say following Dez Duron’s elimination from the competition on November 27. And as usual, she made no bones about telling it like it is. Take the jump for all the details.

According to US Magazine, this is Christina Aguilera’s third consecutive season on The Voice and she has yet to coach one of her mentee’s to the coveted title of champion. And considering that Aguilera will be leaving the show at the end of this season to promote her new album, Lotus, she’s probably upset that she leaves zero winners out of three seasons.

Aguilera was visibly saddened by the loss of Duron and said she has high hopes for his future in the music industry. She spoke about losing the competition, “I lost one myself earlier on in my career,” she said referring to her 1990 loss on Star Search. She explained, “I’ve gone on to do much bigger and better things — some people don’t even know what Star Search was!” she laughed. “I’m sure Dez will say the same in his own way one day.”

Regardless of who wins the competition or which team they were on, they are not ensured future success or a lasting career in the music industry. Aguilera points out, “[My former mentee] Chris Mann, prime example. Came in fourth last year. It’s like ultimately, who’s the real winner? Who’s Javier? Who’s Jermaine?” She asked. “At this point, I think it’s all about Chris Mann, thank you!” she said referring to season 1′s Javier Colon and season 2′s Jermaine Paul.

Aguilera said she even “lent her vocals to” Mann’s forthcoming debut album, Roads. “He’s coming back on the show for a performance to do something from his album,” Aguilera said.

Twenty-two–year-old Duron spoke of his time on The Voice and said he had no regrets. “At this point, I’m surrounded by amazing vocalists in this competition — anybody can go home any week,” he said. “My goal every week was just to go out there and put my heart on that stage and give a great performance.”

Do you agree with Aguilera that Duron should not have gone home? Who do you think will win the competition? Post a comment and let us know what you think.

I’m glad all of Christina’s people are gone. I don’t like the way she judges others from other teams, especially if a female vocalist who has a better voice than hers. Dez wasn’t that great and I’m not sorry to see him leave. I would really like to see Team Adam or Team Blake win this thing again…

@Aaron Couldn’t disagree with you more. I think Dez deserved to stay, way more than boring ol’ Melanie. Sure Xtina might come off a bit as rude, but of all the judges, she is the one judge who can back up the talent that she has and clearly show everyone who she hit such success.
