The holidays are just around the corner and former Dancing With The Stars contestant, Wendy Williams has teamed up with PETA for their “I’d Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur” ad campaign. Williams took it all off just in time to encourage shoppers not to purchase fur this holiday season.
According to PETA, Williams said she used to wear both fox fur and mink but quickly had a change of heart after learning the truth about how animals are raised and then killed for their fur. “We should all try to be comfortable in our own skin and let animals keep theirs,” Williams said. Then she added, “As a former fur wearer, I have not really given fur any thought for a good seven years.”
Williams said it’s important to understand [as she believes] that “fur is not the mark of success anymore and as a decent person with compassion it [PETA] just seems like the right thing to support.”
For those who currently wear furs, Williams “softly suggests to keep your mind open and do your research,” she adds, “and if you never come around, I still love you.” And for those who simply love the fur look, Williams said, “There are plenty of faux fur options.”
In addition, Williams is working with PETA and shelters in her home state of New Jersey to bring much-needed coats to the needy and those who have been displaced by Hurricane Sandy by encouraging people who currently have furs to donate them to PETA for distribution to the homeless.
Williams unveiled her PETA ad earlier this week in Times Square, joining a list of celebrities who have posed for the anti-fur campaign in the past.
