The Voice Results Recap: Two Contestants Leave Not-So-Overjoyed

December 04, 2012 07:04 PM by Candace Young

Last night on The Voice the remaining six contestants gave two performances each in hopes of hanging in another week.  Now it’s elimination night and time to find out who will…oh, look, Christina Aguilera‘s got short pink hair… Keep reading to see if your favorite makes the final four.

Four artists charted on iTunes following The Voice performances last night. Impressive. The show kicks off with Ne-Yo performing Let Me Love You live. Screaming and lasers feature heavily. Amanda Brown joins him at some point.

Carson asks Adam Levine how he feels about the choices for his team last night – he’s happy and stresses they made the choices together. He admits it wasn’t perfect, but it was super-solid.

Cee Lo Green is asked who stood out for him last night – he yammers about the top six all being the best before naming Trevin.

Xtina gives overall thoughts – she’s enjoying not being stressed during the elimination process for the first time. Her stand-outs were Trevin, Cassadee, and Nicholas.

Blake Shelton jokes about Santa being a little upset with him over some of the stuff in his ‘Not-So-Family’ Christmas Special, before launching into a speech about the importance of communicating as a coach. He wants his team members to be the final two.

Trevin Hunte and Terry McDermott team up for a duet – Feel Again by One Republic. The singing’s fab, but it’s Terry’s Bay City Rollers haircut that I fall in love with. Amazing.

After, Carson talks to Terry about his family. He then reveals that America has saved Terry!

Amanda Brown and Cassadee Pope pair up to sing Breakaway by Kelly Clarkson.

Following that performance, Carson zeroes in on Nicholas, who reminisces about how the competitors have become a family, and even mentions the farts they’ve shared. Yep.

Carson then announces that America has saved Trevin!

Matchbox 20 perform Overjoyed live.

The remaining four are called together onstage. Carson reveals that America has saved Cassadee!

Only one spot is left in the top four – it’s down to the wire!

Melanie Martinez and Nicholas David take the stage together to sing Fiona Apple’s Criminal. It has the feel of being in smoky little jazz club. Smooth.

Carson brings Amanda, Melanie, and Nicholas together to find out the first person leaving tonight on The Voice. It’s…Melanie. She’s thankful for the opportunity and never expected to get this far.

Finally, it’s time to fill the last spot in the top four. The judges weigh in briefly with encouraging words before Carson announces that America has saved Nicholas! Amanda will be leaving tonight.

The Voice final four are Terry, Trevin, Cassadee, and Nicholas. Do you think America got it right?

I can’t believe America didn’t save Amanda Brown! She is an amazing talent ~ and to send her home and save Nickolas? Ridiculous!!
    Are you kidding me??

Cassidy should have left…Amanda was by far the better singer. Cassidy has a good sound in her upper range, but whenever she leaves it, her pitch, breath control and tone become extremely weak. Amanda was probably considered to be a sure thing for the finals, so people did.n’t feel the nessecity to take the time to vote. The tween vote on i-tunes saved Cassidy, while rockers went to Terry, and r&b went to Trevin. Amanda was more versatile, so she couldn’t garner a majority of votes in a specific genre’.

Amanda was by far the better singer over Cassidy, but was elimanated due to her ability to sing in any genre’. Trevin took the R&B vote, Cassidy the pop role and Terry the rock genre’. Amanda was able to do it all, but couldn’t claim a specific musical style as ‘hers’. Cassidy benefitted from the tweenie i-tune voters and country music’s ‘Blake lovers’. I’m sure Amanda will be a big star. She’s ready to start touring in conjuction with an established artist today.

I think Cassidee is better and I preferred Melanie over Trevon. I agree on Terry and Nick

Amanda should have been in the final 4. She has shown more vocal range than Nicholas. At least the fans got it right and eliminated Melanie. Although she was unique in her artistic style she never took risks and deserved to go.

I’ve never liked Cassadee; she is just another girl singer to me – she has no real voice of her own. I was really sorry to see Amanda go. I really thought the top 3 from this week were Terry, Trevin, and Amanda based on their performances. I like Nicholas usually, but not so much this week. I’m not familiar with his first tune, but he got lost in all the other singers for it and didn’t sing the chorus and he mangled Somewhere Over the Rainbow – a song I with which I am very familiar. It would have been nice to hear the actual tune at least half of the time…. Oh well, only 1 can win, but I fully believe all of the top 16 will do very well because of the exposure they’ve gotten (perhaps all the the 64 chosen?), so I’m not sad for anyone. But I really, really don’t care for Cassadee – too many knee bends and raised arms and a voice that doesn’t stand out at all – I find her annoying at best.

Oh well…at least i can be more productive now, than watching The Voice on Mondays…Amanda should’ve still on the Final 4…It’s just sad that America goes more on popularity than REAL TALENT!

Our favs are still there! Amanda bored me. She is a back up singer for sure. This season has had the most talent though. Melanie SHOULD be surprised she made it this far! Trevin and Terry should make it one more week. But they are all awesome!
