Althea Dishes Project Runway All Stars Eco-Friendly Fizzle

December 07, 2012 04:00 PM by Donna W. Martin

On episode six of Project Runway All Stars, Althea said goodbye to the judges, her fellow designers, and her chance of winning after failing to impress with her take on an eco-friendly red carpet design. Take the jump to find out how Althea felt about leaving the competition.

According to Lifetime, Althea said, “I don’t feel like I’m leaving too soon because I don’t feel like the way I approach design is necessarily in tune with what the judges are looking for.”

“I appreciate that the judges understand the amount of work I took into the garment.” She added, “I think it would have helped if the tacks wouldn’t have broken and the dress would have fallen as I initially planned it but my only thing I would say maybe I didn’t agree with would be I’d rather have too much than too little.”

Althea admits the design was not at its best saying, “Maybe there are some things to work out, but there are a lot of ideas versus something that is a little more traditional.”

Althea seemed to think some designers had taken a more traditional approach to this week’s challenge rather than pushing themselves and she felt they were being reward for it. “I guess I just feel a little frustrated because when we got the message from Karl Lagerfeld,” she said referring to Lagerfeld’s comment on design, ‘it’s all about pushing ideas,’ fashion is about being different.” She added, “And doing things… unique, like you want to push yourself” and “you see something that’s supposed to be at such a high level when things like that are rewarded.”

Althea said she would miss some things about the show but not others. She explained, “Even though I am going to miss some of the designers here, I’m not going to miss a lot of the drama and the high tensions and the attitude.”

She said she would also not miss, “Hitting my head against a wall week after week just because I felt like my designs aren’t what the judges are looking for, so it’s very frustrating.” She added, “It will be nice to not have to feel that way.”

What did you think of Althea’s design? Do you agree with the judges’ decision to send her home? Post a comment below and tell us what you think.
