According to Reuters, there was no “love” for the Canadian pop sensation this year with the Grammys. Nominees for the Grammy Awards are “voted on by the members of The Recording Academy and recognize achievement in 81 categories” but Bieber didn’t make the cut.
However, Bieber, 18, did win three American Music Awards in November. Maybe his fans thought those wins showed promise for what was to come at the Grammy Awards, but it wasn’t meant to be.
Bieber’s new album, “Believe” was released in June. The album has produced two top 10 hits, “Boyfriend” and “As Long As You Love Me” and the songs on this album has projected a much more grown up image of the pop star, but nonetheless, no Grammy nomination for Bieber.
After hearing he was snubbed by the Grammys, Bieber remained quiet on the subject but that was not the case for his manager, Scooter Braun or his 31 million Twitter fans.
“Grammy board u blew it on this one. The hardest thing to do is transition, keep the train moving. The kid delivered. Huge successful album, sold out tour, and won people over. … This time he deserved to be recognized,” Braun tweeted.
And many of Bieber’s Twitter fans quickly chimed in “with hashtags such as #BieberForGrammys trending on the micro-blogging service.”
But Bieber isn’t the only fan favorite who didn’t receive a Grammy nomination. One Direction, Nikki Minaj, Lady Gaga, and Psy were also snubbed.
The Grammy Awards will be handed out in a live performance in Los Angeles on February 10.
