American Idol guest star, Rihanna, 24, is embarking on a new venture with Style Network. What’s she got going on? The six-time Grammy award winning singer will executive produce and star in a new reality show where music meets fashion called Styled to Rock. Take the jump to get all the details.
According to Style Media, Styled to Rock is a new reality fashion series that will consist of 10 one-hour long episodes. The show will give 12 aspiring designers the opportunity of a lifetime to style A-list stars.
Robin “Rihanna” Fenty will executive produce the show and she will hand pick the 12 design contestants. Each week, Rihanna will invite a fashion expert to mentor the designers and push them to their creative limits. The fashion expert will then decide which designer produced the best work. After which, one contestant will be sent home, and those remaining will advance to the following week’s challenge. At the end of the competition, one aspiring designer will be named the winner and next fashion design superstar. Prizes are still being determined.
Salaam Coleman Smith, President, Style Media said, “Rihanna is a trailblazer, a trendsetter and the epitome of style. She has a powerful and unique point-of-view that transcends every aspect of pop culture, including fashion, and is a leading creative force.” He added, “On the heels of our successful network rebrand, ‘Styled to Rock’ and Style’s new partnership with Rihanna will reinvent the fashion competition genre, fueling our viewers insatiable appetite for all things style.”
Rihanna said she’s looking forward to this new venture. “Fashion has always played an integral part in my life and career,” she said. “I am so excited to partner with Style Network and share my creative insight with these 12 designers and give them this opportunity to showcase their work.”
A casting search is currently under way on Style’s website.
Styled to Rock is set to premiere in 2013 on Style.
