Last night on The X Factor, Tate Stevens, Carly Rose Sonenclar, Emblem3, and Fifth Harmony performed for our votes. Who did we vote into The X Factor‘s season two finals? Are Carly and Tate still standing? Keep reading for all the details!
Immediately following last night’s performances, the contestants share their “fresh from the stage” feelings. In response to Britney’s criticism, Tate Stevens says, “Britney didn’t think it was my best performance, but I think I did enough to get to the finals.” Carly Rose Sonenclar is a tiny bundle of nerves. She shares, “It’s a little discouraging to get negative comments. I think I could be going home.” At the end of the night last night, L.A. Reid says, “I think it was a problematic night for Carly. That was not her best… could be damaging.”
Simon Cowell meets Emblem3 (Wes Stromberg, Keaton Stromberg, Drew Chadwick) backstage. As proud as can be, Simon says, “That’s how we do it!” The guys are pumped up and mumbling things like “insane” and “incredible.” Also unable to speak clear sentences is Fifth Harmony (Ally Brooke, Dinah Jane Hansen, Camila Cabello, Normani Hamilton, Lauren Jauregui). I hear words like happy, fun, teeth hurt, and exhilarating. Lauren says, “We’re so close to that prize. To not get into the final would completely crush us.”
Fast forward to tonight’s result show, Mario Lopez and Khloe Kardashian-Odom announce the name of the first act through to the finals… and it’s Fifth Harmony!
The girls of Fifth Harmony jump around and scream. Carly looks like she’s about to have a nervous breakdown.
WOW! What a shock. I think everyone assumed we’d hear Tate and Carly’s name first and then be left wondering which of the groups made it through. This announcement changes everything!
Will there be a shocking elimination tonight? Did both groups survive and take out one of the front runners? Is Emblem3 out? Why does Simon look so happy? (Come on, we all know Emblem3 is his little pet project this season!) Why does Britney Spears looks so (hilariously) upset?
“This is absolutely phenomenal,” Ally says. ”Thank you so much to everyone who has been supporting us. We love you all.” Dina adds, “We’re really excited to show what we can do next week.”
Simon shares, “I can’t believe it. I thought they were sensational last night. I could not be happier. I still got one more I want to get through though.” (Of course. Simon, wearing a sad face, looks at his little pets.) Britney explains the stink face, “I’m a little disappointed. I thought it was going to be the other way around with the groups.”
The next act through to The X Factor season two finale is… Tate Stevens!
Tate says, “This is amazing. For every country music fan out there… than you so very much.” Simon looks mad. Carly looks like she’s about to cry. Britney looks worried.
After some nonsense time filling, Khloe talks to Carly and Emblem3 backstage. Being the
brilliant vapid interviewer that she is, Khloe asks Carly, “I know you say you’re feeling really nervous, but how are you feeling?” Carly answers, “I’m feeling really nervous right now.” Yeah – I’m so glad we settled that! Carly adds, “This means the world to me. To even be in this position is really nerve wracking.”
Emblem3′s Drew surprises me with, “At this point, despite the outcome, I’m just so grateful to have had this experience. Honestly, the wealth of knowledge that I’ve gained through this surpasses the $5 million. Either way, I’m grateful.”
Khloe goes on to remind Carly and Emblem3 that one of them will be going home… in no particular order… though, a hunch tells me that the one going home is in last place. Between you and me, I really hope Khloe isn’t invited back next season.
Moving on, Carly Rose Sonenclar is safe! Twitter, you can calm down now.
Carly is visibly relieved but very mindful of those she’s sharing the stage with – Emblem3. Carly graciously hugs Drew and says to the group, “I know you are going to go so far, and I can’t wait to buy your album.” Carly is one classy 13-year-old girl!
Following Emblem3‘s elimination, Simon says, “This is the way it goes on competitions. I’m gutted for them, because I thought they had a fantastic night last night. It happens. I’m very, very disappointed.”
Mario points out the obvious – either Fifth Harmony, Tate Stevens, or Carly Rose Sonenclar will win The X Factor‘s $5 million recording contract.
