Trevin Hunte Sounds Off Following The Voice Elimination

December 13, 2012 02:00 PM by Donna W. Martin

NBC’s, The Voice lost yet another hopeful, Trevin Hunte on Tuesday night’s result show. Keep reading to see what Trevin had to say about his elimination and working with coach, Cee Lo Green.

According to NBC Trevin had nothing but positive things to say following his elimination from the competition. “Words can’t even explain how happy and excited I am.” He explained, “I got an opportunity to start my career and to show America that more than just The Voice…I can be popular on the music scene.”

He said, “Being on this show has been the best experience [of] my entire life.” He explained, “Coming from such negative things, growing up with people telling me I wouldn’t become anything, and [then] coming here has definitely been an amazing ride for me.”

However, Trevin said one person in particular made a lasting change in him and that was his coach, Cee Lo Green. “Choosing Cee Lo as my coach was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Cee Lo is very loyal and he’s very genuine. I couldn’t have chosen a better coach,” he said. “I felt like it was a perfect fit for me and him.”

Trevin said working with Cee Lo and performing on The Voice have helped him grow as a performer and a person. He explained, “Stepping on the stage at the blind auditions, I wasn’t the most confident person in the world. I never saw myself getting a chair to turn around” but “through this process, I’ve grown. My confidence has grown tremendously.” He added, “I am happy and excited that I made it to the top four.” It has been “a great accomplishment for me.”

When asked if he could go back and do something differently, would he, Trevin said, “I don’t think I would have done anything different, not at all, because I feel like if I’d done something different, I wouldn’t be Trevin and I could only be the best Trevin that I could be.”

What did you think about Trevin’s elimination? Were you disappointed? Who do you think is going to win the competition? Post a comment and let us know.

I hate that Trevin was eliminated especially since his was the best singer. I don’t like the way the eliminations are done. I will not be watching the show anymore and I don’t care who wins because they wouldn’t have been the best anyway.

Trevin was definataly one of my favorites on the show. I was absolutely and totaly shocked that he was eliminated. I told my girlfriend during the blind auditions that he would be the one to beat.
What a magnificent voice. He will go far in the music business.

Who will win? At this point I’m betting on Terry McDermott.

Trevin was good and should go far now that he has opened doors and gained experience.
Terry has a beautiful voice which is what the contest is about.
That’s what is good about this show – the singers can sing. It makes it harder to pick a winner when all are good to start with.

Trevin has the most beautiful voice of all the contestants. I can’t believe he is just 18 yrs. old. However, The Voice truly knows how to pick great talent, and you can’t help but love them all. It’s anybody’s game at this point. I don’t think this week was necessarily Trevin’s best performance, but he has clearly proven that he has the most outstanding voice, not just of this season but, of anyone since the start of the show.

I think Trevin had the best voice on the show, but he had a weaker performance, for him, going into the selection. My wife and I both thought he was a bit “pitchy” on Wind Beneath My Wings. However, CeeLo, Christina or Adam would be crazy not to offer such a great young talent a contract. I expect to see him singing his most recent record on next year’s show. Dude is not going to be flippin’ burgers.

Stunned and dismayed by Trevin’s elimination. He’s the first I’ve ever bothered to vote for up to now. This, however, is also the first season in which I’ve been wowed by the talent and actually bought some tracks. Trevin’s bound to get a contract … and Christina has proclaimed her desire to have him on her concert tour. I agree with Dayton’s comment about Trevin’s Wind Beneath My Wings. Trevin doesn’t always hit the mark, depending on song choice, but heavens above, what an awesomely powerful fabulous ability when he pulls out all the stops! Looking forward to his first album.

Unfortunately, “The Voice” is just another popularity contest. If judged solely on the quality of the voice, then Trevin is the hands-down winner… Lost my interest in American Idol years ago for similar reasons. But I really thought “The Voice” would step up and be true to it’s name… I was wrong…. again…

RJ, my sentiments exactly! I don’t know who’s doing the voting, but they’ve got to be deaf & retarded! It really is a popularity contest(even though it’s called THE VOICE!). It certainly IS NOT about choosing the best singer. Imagine Cassadee won over Trevin & Amanda Brown! How could that be?! I guess it’s about who’s voting vs who’s not voting. We(who don’t always vote) assume folks will vote for the best singer on show called THE VOICE, but, well, did I say deaf & retarded?!!!

Ditto, ditto, ditto. I stopped watching the Voice once I heard that Trevin (results were out before the show) was eliminated. The others were okay but Trevin was, for me, the VOICE. I replay his audition too many times and his battle round with Amanda Brown. What a guy that he is appreciative of his good fortune to have made it as far as he did BUT selfish me, wanted to tune into one more week just to hear him sing…
