The nation was shocked and saddened to learn of yesterday’s horrific shooting in Newton, Connecticut. Piers Morgan, Tom Cotter and several other America’s Got Talent stars were among those voicing their disbelief in the wake of the catastrophe. What did these celebs have to say about the Sandy Hook Elementary tragedy?
Former America’s Got Talent judge Piers Morgan was, as usual, sick of all the whining. He urged America to take action with the following tweet: “Don’t just mourn these poor dead children America – get angry and do something to stop these senseless shootings happening.”
Current judge Howie Mandel followed the same train of though, although he went so far as to identify a specific culprit: lack of mental health deteciton. “The tragedy today speaks volumes about our society’s neglegance toward identifying and acting on mental health issues. We preach early detection for cancer. What about early detection for cancer of the mind?”
Season seven runner-up Tom Cotter can crack a joke about the most depressing and controversial material, but such was not the case during a Friday night comedy show. In fact, Tom felt guilty for making people laugh at all. “The Show Must Go On”…I’ve done shows with a tooth ache, and a head ache. Tonight it was a heart ache. I felt guilty going for laughs.”
Former AGT guest star star Justin Bieber urged his followers to pray for those impacted by the shooting. “heard about what happened in CT, my prayers go out to all those suffering in this tragedy. it’s just wrong. Everyone please pray for them.”
Jack Osbourne may not have been a judge on America’s Got Talent, but he was the primary reason behind his mom quitting the show. The reality star kept his tweet simple and to the point: “My thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and families in Newtown, CT. It’s heart breaking.”
It’s impossible to make sense of yesterday’s horrific events in Newton, Connecticut. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and educators of Sandy Hook Elementary.
