There are few things that would make us happier than to see The Marriage Ref alum and singer extraordinaire Bette Midler alongside Lea Michele, Cory Monteith and the rest of the Glee cast. Looks like we’re in good company, because Chris Colfer (otherwise known as Kurt Hummel) has announced that he supports Bette Midler’s campaign for Gleekdom. What else did Colfer have to say about Bette Midler’s Glee efforts?
Either Ryan Murphy was joking when he offered Bette Midler a role on Glee (and really, what kind of a joke is that?) or he just got too busy finding other additions to this season’s disapointingly mediocre cast. No matter his reasoning, Murphy needs to get on it pronto, for Divine Miss M says she’s, “ still waiting for that call.”
There at least one member of the current Glee cast who would love to get Bette Midler on board if at all possible: the one and only Chris Colfer! Of course, if she’s to be on the show, she has to spend at least a little time with the newly-admitted NYADA student Kurt Hummel. Or, at least, that’s what Colfer thinks. While promoting new movie Struck By Lightening, Colfer suggested that he could be spending lots of buddy time with Midler during filming. “I heard she might have a close encounter with my character…I’m very excited about it, because I’m a huge Bette Midler fan.”
Hmm, we’re not sure where Chris heard this tidbit or if it’s just wishful thinking, but it would be pretty cool if Kurt Hummel got to hang out with Divine Miss M. However, poor Kurt was not listed among Midler’s character ideas. Instead, she mentioned the possibility of being Rachel’s grandmother, or (in what would be absolutely hilarious) Sue Sylvester’s evil sister. Because you know, Sue’s not evil enough anymore.
