Tonight on NBC‘s The Voice, the coaches and contestants joined together to perform a touching tribute to the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, plus, the 3 remaining finalists took to the stage to perform for viewers’ votes, one last time. What else did you miss?
To start the show, the contestants and coaches Blake Shelton, Adam Levine, Cee Lo Green, and Christina Aguilera joined forces for a touching tribute to the lives lost at Sandy Hook Elementary last week; each holding a card with the name and age of one of the victims as they sang, “Hallelujah.”
After the sobering intro, each of the three finalists took to the stage to perform three songs, including a duet with their coach and their “breakout” performance, which, though we enjoyed them, aren’t there like, a million ways that we can hear them do those songs again?
Anyway…. Doing things a little differently for one of his final performances, Team Cee Lo’s Nicholas David kicked things off (literally) with a rockin’ medley, and he was on FIRE!
For Terry McDermott’s first performance of the night, he joined coach Blake Shelton for a duet of “Dude Looks Like a Lady.” We LOVE Terry singing this song — and Blake does okay too, but we’re still drooling over Adam Levine’s shirtless guitar solo (and wondering who talked him into wearing the wig — Blake or Cee Lo?!).
Later, Terry returned to the stage to perform his son’s favorite song, “Broken Wings.” He’s a little “off” at first, but eventually is able to save himself. Like Blake, we’re so impressed with his ability to hit those notes in “Dude Looks Like A Lady,” we’re not even sweatin’ the mistakes.
Blake teamed up his other finalist, Cassadee Pope, to sing “Steve McQueen.” Another great song choice. And again, Cassadee sounds awesome with these Sheryl Crow-I’m a little bit country, but not-songs.
Nicholas David and Cee Lo hit the stage with — wait for it — “Play That Funky Music White Boy,” and introduce Cee Lo’s even smaller (and dare we say, cuter) friend… “Me Lo.”
Closing out the show, Cassadee sang Faith Hill’s “Cry.” May we note that the set designers at The Voice must be trying to outdo themselves this season because the falling leaves were almost as spectacular as Pope’s performance.
Who do you think will win Season 3 of The Voice — Cassadee, Terry, or Nicholas? Sound off in the Comments section below!
