While much of the latest episode of The Voice was dedicated to the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary shooting, there were a few lighthearted moments…such as when Adam Levine gave a shirtless portrayal of heavy metal guitar. Contestant Terry McDermott say that, as far as he knows, the shirtless piece was not planned. Hey, we’re okay with Adam Levine’s spur-of-the-moment approach!
If you missed out on The Voice last night, you chose a bad time to call in absent. Last night’s episode featured an amazing tribute to the children and staff members killed in the recent Sandy Hook shooting. The other highlight? Adam Levine tore off his shirt for the sake of comic relief (and eye candy).
WetPaint later asked Terry who had the wise idea to have Adam Levine rock out on stage in long hair and no shirt. His response? “I have no idea. All the way through rehearsals, he had his shirt on. There was no headband. There was nothing.”
Somewhere between the rehearsal and the actual show, Adam decided to mix things up. He didn’t bother to inform the contestants of his little wardrobe change, for as Terry explains, “That was a surprise to us. I look over and Blake is laughing his ass off, and I’m like, ‘What the hell is going on here?’”
Despite being left out of the loop, Terry McDermott thought Adam’s shirtless performance was a great surprise for the remaining contestants, the judges and of course, the audience! ”We had great fun with that! It was just a nice little touch. We were having great fun in rehearsal and that just finished it off.”
First Christina Aguilera’s cleavage-baring outfits and now a shirtless Adam — who will be next to strip down? Blake Shelton, Cee Lo Green or perhaps one of next season’s newbie judges? Share your predictions in the comments section below!
