Lea Michele Tweets Praise For Les Miserables

December 27, 2012 08:59 AM by Stephanie Gustafson

Les Miserables has received plenty of praise from critics and fans alike. Joining the fan club are several celebs, including Eric Stonestreet and Kristen Bell. The latest star to give her stamp of approval? Glee Project mentor Lea Michele! And Lea definitely knows what she’s talking about, seeing as she played young Cosette back in 1995. What did the Les Mis alum have to say about the new film?

Everyone’s going crazy over the most recent remake of Les Miserables, and that includes some of our favorite reality stars! Glee Project star Lea Michele definitely tops the list of Les Mis fans — for in addition to loving any film with a libretto, Lea has a special connection to Les Miserables: she starred in it when she only eight years old!

We’re still wondering why Lea Michele wasn’t cast in the latest movie version of Les Miserables in the first place. As much as we love Anne Hathaway and Amanda Seyfried, who could be better positioned for the film than the former Cosette? She certainly would have had the best vocal range for the role.

At any rate, Lea Michele didn’t seem particularly bitter about being left out of Les Mis when she tweeted about the movie the other day. “Just saw Les Mis.. is was amazing!! As a member of the Les Mis family I thought they did an amazing job and truly honored the show:)”

How did you like Les Mis? Do you wish Lea Michele had been awarded one of the main parts? Feel free to share your reaction in the comments section below!

    1. Lea is not on the glee project.
    2. She played young Cosette at 8 years old not nine.
    3. She would have been much better suited for Eponine than Fantine or Cosette.
She actually was cast as Eponine for the Hollywood Bowl production of Les Miz on 2008 and was hired for the Broadway rivial in 2006 to be Eponine but stayed with Spring Awakening.

Maybe you should do a little bit more of a google search next time try wikipedia.

Kate, you are just as in need of research. Lea Michele began her Cosette role at 8 but turned 9 during the course of the run (simple math…she was born in August 1986, was in Les Mis in 1995…part of which extended into fall, after her 9th birthday)

While I agree she makes a better Eponine, that’s still a matter of taste, she’s still a much better singer than Amanda Seyfried.

And she has been on the Glee Project as a mentor multiple times.
